Another name for the list...Pitcher Danny Valentin. I dont have any stats but I think he's now in the Tampa Bay organization after playing with a couple of independent league and winter ball teams.

Good, that website listed Doug Brady as someone who made it to the pros. He had a cup of coffee with the White Sox in 1995 and never made it back.
Also... Matt Hagen 2004 Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino (A) .231, 9 HR, 47 RBI... 93 ks.
Erich Cloninger Lowell Spinners & Augusta GreenJackets (A) .226, 0, 4 RBI (in 62 ABs) .222, 0, 5 RBI (in 18 ABs)
Brian Adams (drafted in 2000, I think) Huntsville Stars (AA affilliate of the Brewers) 3-2, 3 saves, 4.25 ERA with 67 k's in 84 IP.
Some other guys that were drafted have been cut, such as Joey Monahan and Jonathan Schneider. Larry Wayne York, the career hits leader at LU, played in 2003 for the Vermont Expos (who lost like 18 straight games) and then was promoted to another single A team in Savannah. He wound up quitting baseball shortly after, returned to Vermont for the final week(s) of the season, and then quit baseball again.
As for Danny Valentin, he was drafted by the A's after his junior year, but didn't sign. He went undrafted after his senior year, so he bounced around for awhile until he signed a AA contract with the Devil Rays this offseason.

thanks, forgot about some of those guys. I was wondering what happened to Valentin. He was a heck of pitcher in school but I never heard where he went.

Yeah funny story about Steve horstman. he moves to Japan, and his host family owns a small cereal company. They need a name for a cereal, anyhow horstman in Japan means something pretty funny, so they name them horstman puffs, which is fitting since the cereal is made of 90% marshmallow puffs.

according to the San Francisco Chronicle's website, Steve Horstman was drafted by the Giants, sent to winter ball in Mexico, then got caught trying to smuggle Barry Bonds' steroids across the border into California

yack it looks slow. If it helps I can teach you a trick to throw the ball back to the pitcher... hold it like a "cut-fastball" and snap your wrist, that was my problem. thats all i have to do and it drops just before it gets to the rusty wall.

LEVER SUCKS....absolutely hilarious !!!
Yack Nasty... do you think Campbell introduced him this way when he attempted to pitch...
FYI...The "Rusty Wall" is still there, but not hit nearly as much.

B. Why won't rachel just leave Hagen alone?
C. Why's the dudes from coastal just a bunch of pricks?
D. Why do baseball guys hang out with volleyball chicks?

After a not-so-fun time in the St. Louis Cardinals organization for four summers, the 25-year-old Dieruff High graduate looks forward to coming to the ballpark again. And, he's been successful in 2005 as a starting pitcher for the independent New Jersey Jackals and former Allentown Ambassadors manager Joe Calfapietra. Brey is 5-3 with a 2.80 earned run average, holding opposing batters to a .193 average. In 61 innings, he's fanned 52 and walked 28. ''I'm having an absolute blast coming here,'' Brey said. ''I'm pitching well and I'm having fun here.'' Brey's left arm led him to Division I Liberty University for three seasons before the Cardinals selected him in the fourth round of the 2001 draft. A torn elbow ligament led to Tommy John surgery in November of 2001, causing him to miss 2002. He worked his way back in 2003 but never got a chance last year to play at Double-A or Triple-A, despite good numbers as a reliever. St. Louis took him out of his misery and cut him loose. ''They sugarcoated it and said it was a numbers game,'' Brey said. ''It didn't surprise me because I was going nowhere. I wasn't having any fun. I was 24-years-old and stuck in low A. That's the way it goes.'' In Brey's mind, he is nearly all the way back. He was throwing in the low 90s at Liberty, under the tutelage of pitching coach and former major leaguer Randy Tomlin. Now only in the mid to upper 80s, Brey attributes it to an amnesia of sorts. ''I lost some of my stuff mechanics wise, and I need to be more consistent with my mechanics,'' Brey noted. ''I look at tapes from before and I look at it now, and it's like night and day. I need to spend more time with Randy in Virginia in the off season.'' In the funny way that life sometimes works, Brey actually became a better pitcher. ''Before the injury, I threw nothing but fastballs,'' he said. ''I'm learning how to pitch because of the injury – my curve and change have improved.'' Jackals pitching coach Brian Drahman has also pitched in the majors. ''Josh has a presence on the mound and he goes out there and gets the job done,'' he said. Calfapietra is convinced Brey can return to affiliated baseball, provided his velocity returns and his walks and mental lapses are reduced. ''He has been a great sign for us,'' the manager said. ''Josh is doing a super job. He needs to continue to pitch – he is just starting to get back to pitching every fifth day.'' ''I want that one shot,'' Brey said of being in The Show. ''That's the Holy Grail and that's where I want to be. It would be nice to pitch in front of 30,000 or 40,000 people. I still have hope.'' Left-hander Craig Breslow pitched for the Jackals last summer. On Saturday, he made his major league debut for the San Diego Padres in Philadelphia. www.mcall.com/sports/baseball/more/all-1a-s-sports10jul29,0,879893.story?coll=all-sportsmorebaseball-hed _____________________________________ [glow=red,2,300] Matt Hagen CInland Empire 66ers (California - High-A)[/glow] .185 Average in 35 Games 1 HR 8 RBI 2 SB ______________________________________ [glow=red,2,300] Jason Jones PTampa Yankees (Florida State - High-A)[/glow] 5-8 Record in 19 Games with 18 Starts 4.19 ERA 58 Ks in 105.1 IP

Does anyone know what ever happened to Larry Wayne York? I know he was drafted in 2003 (I think), played for the Vermont Expos (who had like an 18 game losing streak) before he got promoted to single-A Savannah. He played two games for them, and then went missing... I wound up e-mailing their P.R. guy, and he said that York retired. But later on in the season, I saw him back with Vermont. And now, he's disappeared.
Also, what about Joey Monahan and Keith Butler?
I'm so surprised to see that most of the players from the 2002 team are out of minor league ball. When I was calling games, I was sure that at least one of them was going to make it to the pros.
CF - Keith Butler - drafted by the Cubs, got cut, I guess 2B - Larry Wayne York, see above SS - Joey Monahan, same fate as Butler 3B - Matt Hagen, having an uninspired career in single A RF - Steve Baker, moved up to AA, finally LF - Marcus Maringola, one of the leading hitters in Flames history, never got drafted 1B - Kelly Knouse, great hitter / LHP, didn't get drafted C- Erich Cloninger (I think), drafted by the Red Sox, later cut, I guess.
Plus, there were some good pitchers - Alex Dooley, Anthony Pennix... that never panned out. I'm surpised.
Well, we have high hopes for Jason Jones and David Bechtold, I guess.
