Tough loss but you found a definite weapon that we'll have a hard time stopping.

Basically, we hung tough all game, had them w/ 5 min to go and a young team made typical mistakes which cost them the game, right?

roughing the passer, facemask penalty, and a horrible kicker.....what a tough loss!!! i like our new weapon, and forget the moral victories. that game was ours to win and we choked!

the same kicker we watched blow it last week SMOOTHIE? Remember we were talking about becoming walk-on kickers? Maybe we should give it some thought- I'm only 35 and in RELATIVELY good shape. How fit do you need to be to kick 30 yarders? Not like you have to run! LOL

i had to listen to the chattanooga announcers since i could not get the beloved flames sports netwrok on the net tonight. they called a good game except for constantly crying about the hard astroturf and their players getting hurt b/c of it. they said why would we renew a contract to play LU because of playing on this junk.....waaaaah!!! they did poke fun at the big hole(future field house) filled with water from all the rain and the many lost UTC footballs in there!

Got to start winning these home games. Not many left. It was a great opportunity to beat a respectable team.

Well, we also had bad play calling on that critical 3-and-out that ultimately led to Chatty's game-winning drive. When we scored the touchdown on the possession before, Zach "The Future of LU Football Rests on My Legs" Terrell cut through the D like butter. Then on first down, he gets stopped once. Then we panicked, I thought. You could have at least milked the clock, but nooo.
And don't get me started about the "roughing the passer." Wow. We find new ways to lose every week.

that's classy. Instead of being broadcast professionals, blast the other teams' facilities. I'm actually impressed with the apparent improvement shown tonite. If you think back, ww started to turn it around at the VMI game, though to be honest- the competion isn't the same in the conf schedule portion of the season. Look at it this way- UConn beat Syracuse nicely today- VMI stomped Chuck South, Lehigh LOST to some no-name school (VMI hung right with Lehigh up there) and Y'town State KILLED somebody (I forget who exactly). My point is, the teams we lost to are all pretty decent, and VMI is MUCH improved over last year. Probably not enought to save Coach K but better than 11 blowouts.

Basically, it seems like there is a lot of parity in D1AA FB these days- at least we're not getting drubbed by the Savannah States of the country!

i had to listen to the chattanooga announcers since i could not get the beloved flames sports netwrok on the net tonight. Sorry about that. We had a pretty nasty lightning strike hit two of the main power loops on campus during the storms this week. We got our stuff straight, but then AEP lost some equipment today. Half of Wards Rd. and parts of the main campus were without power for a while. Things should be back in shape by next week's game...if anyone still wants to listen by then.

The good teams that crushed us continue to win- unfortunately for the Chants, Elon and App State both lost, though JMU won easily.

End of first half LU was down around Chatt 18 or so. They get a clipping play. Instead of 2 and 4 it was 2nd and 19. Result Missed FG About the only thing Zach done wrong was a fumble on Chatt. 3 YARD LINE.
Calvery had 6 pts if he would have held onto the interception.
Just dumb stuff like the roughing the kicker. And not using the clock wisely on our last drive. Two srtraight passes. One out of bounce and one incomplete, giving Chatt just enough time to kick game winning FG
There was still a decent crown there tonight for a 1 win team. I think that they said between 6 and 7 thousand.

Well I knew we were going to cough up the lead after we scored to take the lead. They (LU) celebrated like they won the game and that indicated to me that we were going to choke up the lead and choke in the game. Roughing the passer penalty pretty much gave UTC the game to win in the fourth quarter.

Zach is going to be awesome. There were several plays that I thought were over but somehow he managed to find extra yards or get loose.

PAmedic I didn't see Greiser in the game Terrell and FLuellen got most of the carries. They only play Greiser when the game is on the line, like VMI last week on the last series. Maybe should have given Terrell the ball last week.
They did share the gospel w/ the UTC after the game. They played on the radio, it was pretty neat.

Finally went over to ESPN dot com and looked up the box scores- they show NO carries or receptions for Greiser, obviously still unk if he was in on special teams or not though.

I made it to the end of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th--looks like I got to attend the wrong half of the game Had to go to a wedding that started at 7, 30 minutes away from LU. Bummer that we lost SOOOO CLOSE. Hopefully the boys haven't given it up after this one. Terrell had an impressive game.

Fans definitely have something to look forward to in Terrell. He was spectacular. I knew he was going to play tailback this week. He wasn't wearing the red QB jersey at practice. I never imagined he'd be this good. And face it, this team is playing for next year at this point. I'm stunned by the vast improvement from the W&M game to tonight. The team that played at W&M would have struggled to beat Amherst. The team tonight showed major promise. Once they learn how to convert clutch plays, they'll be fine. Tonight was a major step forward. I know it hurts the fans to see the loss, but this team is much closer to being good than you realize. (And man, to think I almost looked like a genius with that pick. )

Also was at the game, and the stats do not say enough for what Terrell did tonight. So many plays, hit 2 sometimes 3 yards in the backfield for 5-6 yard gains. Very fluent and QUICK runner, makes great cuts. Brock did pretty well tonight, still had his usuall miscues, but played a decent game. One thing stands big in my head, On 2nd down from their own 35 they throw a short pass with under a minute to go and #91 makes a obvious roughing the passer pentaly...STUPID STUPID STUPID. We put them on the 50 and still didnt stop them, but u can not afford those mistakes that late on crucial drives. It is just something about this team that they find WAYS to lose. A lot of improvement tonight, take some positives when we can find them

There's no question the mental mistakes int he final two minutes sealed our fates. I'm sure those kids would love to have those plays back. The last thing our football team needs are personal fouls in crunch time ... from football & testimony standpoints.
In the grander scheme of things, if Zach is now our tailback of the future does that man Brock Smith now steps into QB spotlight? He obviously didn't get any opportunities in such a tight game last night. But we have to find a way to get him as many snaps as possible down the stretch in preparation of next fall.

I like the thought of having a Brock Smith at QB, esp if he is half as good as the completely unbiased Auntie ANN says he is.
Couple that w/ a quick slash tailback like we KNOW Terrell can be, rotate in a strong kid like Greiser for the power run- thats a good ground game. And they gained 300 on the ground last nite I believe.
Just gotta develop hands at TE and legs/jumping at WR and we have a potent offense that can play w/ anyone. The "D" (esp the LBs) is probably good enough to hang w/ anyone at this point unless they make the mental mistakes and beat themselves.
