I like your insider info HMO, we won't ask any questions on how you obtain it! But if there is a conflict between yours and other on-campus sources, who should we believe?!

Thank you about the Insider comment (I think) Although nothing I said can be disputed "on campus." I guess what you were referring to was the idea about his buyout option and truth be known Art Williams has 1.4 BILLION dollars and is on Forbe's list year after year...the buyout does not bother him at all Or maybe you were talking about the other coaching options falling through, I dont know how many of you caught wind of coach Holtz coming to LU...this was indeed the case although the biggest wrinkle was when Coach Holtz's son got a head coaching job, and that threw things off....Holtz and Art Williams are good friends....if i didnt answer it just let me knwo and i'll try to be more clear

You gotta tell us how you know THAT one (the Lou Holtz thing) it was sorta a big joke on here for a while! The guy absolutely does NOT fit the LU image- he is an animal on the field and in the locker room. Rated R for sure! that would NOT play on Liberty mtn!

1. Holtz issue was raised about 2 months ago when our AD was still here and everything...Lou was going to be our coach for only 1-2 years and then take over as the New AD while his son took over as the Head Coach....that's why i said that it all fell apart when his son took another job (at the time they were thinking he wouldnt be able to find a head coaching gig). Also, as far as his personallity goes...i agree i didnt think he'd be a good fit, ALTHOUGH i did see him after his last game and his quote was "I'm going where ever God wants me to go next." I know I know, this doesnt make him a Christian or anything but it did say something for him, in press conf. he is very intense although as far as cursing or anything else i havent seen much of
2. This lights issue...please keep in mind I know i said from one year to date although that is NOT a deadline only what will prob. happen...at LU you have to understand 1 thing...there are 2 types of rumors...1 type is what people want/want to see happen 2 is what WILL happen just not by a certian time. Lights has been talked about for years although not until of late has it became the "type 2 rumor." it may be funded by those that built the field house, my personal opinion

Holtz didn't make much sense. But I gues if he was simply trying to setup his son then it was somewhat plausible. But having covered Lou several times over the years in person (primarily at ND), it would've been a real challenge for him to keep the language in check.
As for your explanation onthe 5-year extension for Karcher, I wondered out loud at the time if it was loaded with buyout options. Texas A&M gave Melvin Watkins a new contract extesion just a couple of months before he was canned. It put money up front for the ability to send him packing on a minute's notice. I'm guessing Karcher realizes the pressure is still on to some degree.

and don't think I'm a prude concerning 4 letter words. I'm a career paramedic/firefighter- most of my friends are cops- I live and work in the Philly 'burbs- EVERYONE has a trash mouth. Circumstances occur- even I occasionally let one slip when someone's circling the drain right in front of me- its called STRESS and PRESSURE. I'm definitely no angel. Just that what I've seen of Coach Holtz suggests he's right on the edge most of the time! He's probably a great guy- and you certainly can't argue w/ his results- ok, maybe not South Carolina!

Oh he knows its on...and i dont want yall to think i dont like Ken by talking about his buyout options, because what he did last year was great wins and fan support (also thanks to prototype) but that's the nature of EVERY contract....he just wanted to make sure he was had some support from the school....but like i said before, when a man who loves football and really loves to see a successful LU football team and has give liberty over 90 million dollars over the years....i think he realizes that no buyout is to big....but i doubt the winning nature Ken has he needs motivation....i think he lights his own flame under his butt ;D

yo HMO- do you think your fellow students and staff on campus fully appreciate Proto's efforts to market LU? It'll be interesting to see if the new AD keeps them on- Proto says no vote of confidence has come down yet.

No, I dont think anyone knows what Prototype actually does, thats why I thought it's GREAT he started a marketing thread...like i said before, i wasnt even a fan of them before, but i didnt know that they were really held back from doing their job, which is something Josh wouldnt be able to say...but i have no reason to see why they wouldnt keep them on, they'd be chaper then someone from the outside and Josh and his crew has "been there and done that" I mean, at one time he pretty much was in charge of marketing for EVERY D.C. sport, expect the redskins....but i dont know if you knew this from being out of town and stuff but we now have a Video board on the Main highways (on LU property) that display upcoming games, convo events speakers...but all in all i dont think people realize what they do

GREAT! us oldtimers are impressed with what has been going on, and its great Proto comes on here to explain stuff to us peons when he wouldn't have to.
to give you an idea of where I'm coming from- when I was down there- our trays in the mess hall still said LBC: we had only been LU for a couple years. very little marketing at that time.

It's official...Lou Holtz has decided the Big South is where it's happening. Holtz apparently can't wait to become the new coach at Liberty so he can ride a bus down to Charleston Southern and play on a high school football field in front of 10 people. Holtz is also looking forward to coaching a team in a conference that has no exposure and no bid for the playoffs. When asked about going to Liberty Holtz replied...those jobs at Notre Dame and South Carolina were just preparing me for the Big Time...The Big South Conference. By the way,the Insider has learned that Lynchburg is in the running to host the next Winter Olympics.

Bada bing! That fact you've never registered indicates you must be a current student. Hopefully you can channel some of that creative writing into your term papers.
And for the record, your information in wrong. Lynchburg is not int he running for the Winter Olympics. Jerry couldn't come up with the jack to grease the palms of the Olympic Committee. Get ready for Super Bowl XLV at Williams Stadium!

Wow! I can't believe my information was incorrect. As you know by my posts, The Insider takes great pride in passing along accurate information. By the way, I'm not exactly sure what "Hold My Own" is holding, but I think it might be a hallucinogenic.
