The letters arrive by fax today on campus. Anyone have any knowledge of any of the kids signing?

Maybe we could check out the news and advance. They'll tell us what's going on. Let's see, the 2 stories for today on the website are: 1.Lynchburg College gets beat by bridge water in exciting ODAC play! 2. 2 guys that go to E.C. Glass swam for the YMCA over the summer!
Apparently these are the top 2 sports stories. How screwed up are a newspaper's priorities when LC's loss makes bigger headlines than Lynchburg's only D1 school grabbing sole possesion of 2nd place in a dramatic fashion.

I would like to go on record as being completely shocked and dismayed at the lack of coverage on this topic in the normally fair and balanced local newsmedia/fishwrap. Thank you.

NCAA Regulations prohibit the school from talking with the media about recruits, so I don't blame the fishwrap. Of course, when I was with the school newspaper I was ahead of the ball and looked at websites that named our recruits for us (in basketball), and from there I made phone calls to their coaches (I don't think I was allowed to talk with the players).
That little extra mmph makes me feel good, when I remember that I was the one that broke the story about Leo Lightbourne signing. Yep.
By the way, it doesn't matter who the football team gets. The head coach is a loser. I don't know if it was by choice or by birth, but Karcher is a loser. He radiates loser around him, and sooner or later it will infect the rest of the team.
I find it ironic that the two quarterbacks who did the best under his regime were the ones that didn't have as much time to learn his system - Brock Farrell and Biff Parsons.
Karcher is a loser, he was a loser before he got to LU and he'll be a loser after he leaves. This guy owes his job to three things - Dre Barnes, a complacent fan base and a heck of a lot of luck.

Here's the official release from the school: libertyflames.com/football/news.asp?news_id=1726A total of 31 players will be new to the program this fall between early entrants, incoming freshmen and transfers. As for the Lynchburg fishwrap, I believe we are beating a dead horse in regard to their incompetence. It sucked yesterday, it sucks today and it will suck tomorrow. There is no use wasting any more breath about that waste of trees.

Ryan Greiser – 6-1, 205, RB, Pennridge HS, Sellersville, Pa. Rushed for 2,030 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior … currently holds six Pennridge High School records, including career rushing yards (4,046), single season rushing yards (2,030), single game rushing yards (295), single game rushing touchdowns (5) and single season rushing touchdowns (33) … selected to the Suburban One League, all-Philadelphia Inquirer and Allentown Morning Call first-team squads … also named to the Associated Press all-state first team as a defensive back and the EasternPAfootball.com all-state squad as a running back … Allentown Morning Call and EasternPAfootball.com Player of the Year … Red Zone National Player of the Year … Jim Henry Award winner … Maxwell Award winner.
This kid is very, very good. Very good. very, very good. (I hope I didn't just jinx him!) Think Brian Westbrook. Good hands, rushed for 241 yds in a game last fall, several 3 touchdown games, at least one game w/ 4 and one game W/ 5 TOUCHDOWNS. This in a good AAAA football conference, in a state w/ some very good teams/long histories, where rushing is a priority. His team was ranked #3 in the state last year. More info to follow when I uncover it.
To be up front: My entire family (including myself for several yrs b4 transferring) when to this HS, so I know the program and the people.
(Hey, if Sly makes us listen to all the garbage about Texas HS teams, you can all hear about PA for once!)

Look who joined the fray ... it's Ed's namesake. Biting sarcasm always welcomed. But why not go ahead and register.
We only took one Texas kid. At least we did pull six in from Florida. At least we made SOME effort where the real talent is located.

For the record, my kid is just 3 years old. But he alreadyt hits liek a ton of bricks (generally when I don't see him coming).
The Texan is from Flower Mound ... a suburb up in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He wasn't very high profile on the recruiting scene down here so I don't know much about him. Hopefully he's a playa.

sounds like my 50 lb five year old who is responsible for my newfound lumbar/cervical strain and scoliosis! Who is it that teaches these kids to jump you the minute you turn around, normally from off the top of the living room couch? (Maybe these two have a future in the WWE.)

Of the 50 elite student-athletes selected to the list, 29 athletes will continue their education at a Division I-A institution, while Greiser is one of nine deciding to continue their education at a Division I-AA institution. Now I'm no math major, nor am I one to inquire where the new Math offices are located, but 29+9=38. So 12 of the top 50 football players are choosing to stop playing

From looking at the players from Florida, something fishy is going on. Those are all big name schools except Bradford and couple powerhouses. Why are they going to LU. I'm glad their going but something just aint making sense. To the current students, don't be suprised if you see some new unannounced "activity fee" on your bills.

Whoa, that's a pretty large off-handed, maksed accusation. I agree that we aren't perfect, but just because a copule of really good kids come here does not mean that we have done anything wrong. I know that I can not say definitively but hey, neither can you jack! I don't mind complaining about legitimate problems but let's not get into conspiracy

gotta agree w/ roman numeral guy- "Jack" that was a stupid comment. As a friend once told me, don't look for elephants in hedgerows.
The kid from PA comes from a christian family and, in fact, his brother attends a local christian prep school. Evidently this young man attended the local public school as to afford him the opportunity for a college scholarship, which he definitely earned. Someone else has posted to the effect that we will eventually see LU make a mark as the destination of choice for christian atheletes that want to play D1 sports in a great, supportive environment. For this kid, LU offered that and he took the chance.

So 12 of the top 50 football players are choosing to stop playing LUConn, my guess is the intent of that paragraph was that of the remaining 50: 9 were going to D1AA, so I'd assume that the other 12 are going D2 or D3?

nah, i wasn't saying something was definitly going down. I just meant something could be fishy. Some things just throw up red flags. The PA guy sounds really good from the Old Spice ranking and non of those FL schools are Christian schools and there powerhouses. I think the guy from naples was all state is 5-A, which is saying something. I dunno. Dont get me wrong, Im glad were bringing on good players, but i was just wondering on any insight why they would continue their career at LU. Must be the LU women

This falls in line with what I've been regurgitating on this other boards for a long time. If quality Christian athletes learn of a place where they can compete at a reasonably high level in a Christian atmosphere, we're going to attract some good ones.

LUConn, my guess is the intent of that paragraph was that of the remaining 50: 9 were going to D1AA, so I'd assume that the other 12 are going D2 or D3? They aren't choosing to stop playing or (for the most part) going to non-DI-A/DI-AA programs...they are either academically ineligible and not able to go to school or going to JCs to get eligible.

That list is flat out bizarre. I have absolutely no idea how they came up with the selections on there. Its like they randomly selected a few all-area players from a cross-section of the country.
I can tell you that the two Texan kids listed on there as not showing a college selection both played for little country schools where they had absolutely no exposure. Over 300 players sign Division I letters in Texas every year. Only two were listed .... one from San Antonio head to play for the Longhorns and another from near my house in Houston who is headed to Northwestern. The one headed up north probably isn't among the top 15 RBs in the Houston area alone. What a weird list.
All that said, hopefully Ryan is the real deal and can deliver the good immediately.

"At Liberty, I can also get a great education and be challenged spiritually, too," Greiser said. "What really sold me on Liberty are the opportunities that I have that will prepare me for the rest of my life." www.maxwellfootballclub.org/content/awards/henry/2004/bio_Greiser.htm
