smooth - I think you and I must have been seperated at birth - other than the Tech-UVA thing - we see everything eye to eye :>)
Seriously, whether you think the bum-rushers are out of line or not on this thread (which I never thought would generate any discussion) you have to admit - a mere acknowledgement of my request would have shown minimal good will. take a look at these possible responses:
"I don't have the authority to sell you anything straight out of the equipment room" "Selling old game worn gear has not been something we have done in the past" "No - I can't do that" "Hey, not sure if I can do that...Let me ping you back next week" "Nothing for sale right now" "An auction might be forthcoming - check back with me" "Don't ever try to contact me again or I'll have you arrested :>)"
Any of those response would have been better than nothing in my book. Final word on this - I am sure Robert is busy, I have no doubt he is a good Christian man, if I knew him personally I am sure he's the kind of person I would want to be friends with, etc. - I'm just surprised that I got zero response on a very simple request that could have been summed up with a 5 word e-mail or voice mail. LU is an experience. Every touch point at LU sells that experience. LU should want for each encounter with the school to be a positive experience for those reaching out. Make your own conclusions. The prosecution rests.

The defense concurrs, or should- and rests as well. Cause I say so! Guilty- give the nice man and his kid from PA a jersey and see the court officer on your way out, thank you.

Well, I couldn't disagree more, but it's not worth arguing about.

All- I was not trying to be confrontational and I understand the "bum rush" comment to be meant tongue in cheek (I used to listen to Public Enemy before I got serious about my Christian walk ...I was just trying to tell you that I am POSITIVE you were not intentionally snubbed. Robert is a great guy and very committed to doing a good job. Inevitably, the coaching staff dumps something on him last minute. I've seen (and experienced) 3:00 pm practice scheduled for Hancock field moved to the turf with the decision announced at 2:45. For players and coaches, that means walking 200 fewer yards from the field house to practice. For the athletic trainers and EQ managers, it means moving everything that took you 45 minutes to set up back down to essentially where you got it in 5 minutes or less. It is the nature of the beast. I say all that to say I am quite sure Robert was in a tough spot. Things pop up all the time and non-priorities have a way of getting lost in the chaos. He asked Coach about doing an auction for old gear. I heard him ask. It was to be considered and discussed later. Now I am sure you called and he hoped to be able to set something up pending the blessing of the HC. Now the EQ manager is waiting to hear back from his boss, who inevitably forgets while moving on to issues more pressing to winning games. The EQ manager doesn't want to deflect blame toward his boss, but he also is hopeful he can get something going. All I am saying is I understand why you are upset and I agree you deserve a response...particularly if you were that persistent...but it's hard to give you one without blaming any inactivity on El Jefe. And I've got some authentic team issue tshirts left if you need any more...

TRBcer:
Thanks for the first set of shirts. I may need another XL t-shirt if you have anymore. Actually XXL is best but I will take what I can get. The sweatshirt is sweet. One more thing, I'm not upset with Robert. I understand he is busy and like I said - I am sure he's a very good man. He is also blessed to have a friend that will go to bat for him like you.
If you hear through the grapevine of any forthcoming auction please let me know. This could be a great fundraiser for the the ADept or the Flames Club. Speaking of the Flames Club - I'm still waiting on my goodie packet. flameshaw and I may have to bum-rush the Flames Club folks if we don't get our stuff! :>)

INTERESTING...I typed the actual name the LU athletic department building in my post and proboards automatically changed it to "Hanthingy!" That's pretty funny...a campus building at LU has a name to offensive to list on a public message board service! ROTFLMBO!

Be thankful you can wear a Medium. When I graduated college I was 195 pounds and in the best shape of my life. when I hit 30 I was 195 pounds - hadn't lost a step. Wife gets pregnant a third time and I start eating. I was on the scale this morning - 217! Ouch. XL's are getting tight now. Got to get off this board and start running again.
I have eaten my way into a 3 point stance!

Speaking of uniforms - I called the football equipment manager at LU in January asking about buying an old jersey or two for my office. He COMPLETELY blew me off. No return calls or e-mails, nothing. The football secretary passed a note to him for me - nothing. I would call him or send a nice e-mail about once a month. I am sorry but how hard is it to say - we can't help you or return a call to a fan/alum? sounds like 'ol Charlie Elders is back in charge of the field house. LOL

Before I went on my sabbatical from the board, I remember the conversation dealt with marketing and how they were going to start selling football jerseys and basketball jerseys at Wal-Mart and such.
Does anyone know if this was tripe? And if it isn't, where can I get a jersey? I can't tell you how badly I lobbied to get an authentic jersey during my tenure at LU, only to get brushed off.

The guy who is charge of the marketing of the Flames is a sometimes poster on here. He uses his company's name as his moniker on here ... Prototype. Scar seems to run into him from time to time and perhaps he can encourage him to drop by once again.

Kevin Keys (former SID back in the day) is now the Director of Marketing and is working on the inside with Prototype, which is on the outside, so to speak. Kevin seems to already be working on some good ideas and would be the person to talk to about your thoughts.

Yeah, I'd like to see how that looked. I bet it was nice, except if they wore matching red pants. Then it would look stupid.
Red jersey, blue pants = good combo. Red jersey, red pants = ugly.

Anyone who saw the Indiana game Sat nite would have an appreciation for Red-on-red.
I'll have to see if I can dig up any pix.
Speaking of that, why are there no pix of OUR FB team anywhere to be found? Rhetorical question I guess.

That's actually maroon on maroon like Texas A&M's uniforms. IU's school colors are actually red but they use maroon in football since it looks better.

I don't have any pix to post of Saturday night but I loved the alternate jerseys. I wish all our teams would do it. I told you guys I got a preview of the Men's red jerseys for hoops. I would love to get me some more authentic Liberty gear. I still say Universal T's has some great stuff though. They had a tent set up at the game but I am sure the football team's performance had an impact on sales. Tough night thats for sure.

I always check that site first- nothing new for most sports other than WBB since 2004. Some are older than that- soccer is from 2003.
and SLY is right; those IU colors looked "redder" on TV, I was surprised to see how "maroon" they look in print.
