There are a ton of LU alumni and current students on this board. This website is pretty cool and there are over 34 million people registered. It has some neat features, especially the shared networks. I found a couple of old high school and college buddies. Look me up - my profile is Grimmy!

I'm still getting settled into myspace. As soon as I do, I'll look you up, LUPITT.
What are some of the things you like better about myspace over facebook?
I do know that within minutes of me registering, one of my buddies from back in school found me instantly. That was pretty cool.

MySpace and Facebook are both social networking websites. You create a profile, and then people can search for you, or vice versa. You build a network of friends and this makes you feel happy.
I find MySpace to be highly annoying as they let people alter their profile pages in just about any way they want, which usually produces some highly unreadable (and sometimes highly un-loadable) junk. I have been in touch with at least one friend that I wouldn't have otherwise found via MySpace, though.
Facebook I really enjoy as the interface and design is clean and quick. Mostly though, I enjoy that it limits it to those with an email address from the school they're signing up for. Makes it a bit more exclusive and quite a bit easier to find people based on class, major, etc. at your school. The problem there is that you need an email address and some of you Stone Age Alumni won't have one of those. If you don't have one, and you want a real-deal LU email address (not one of those silly @alumni.liberty.edu ones) call the HelpDesk at (434) 582-2139. Tell them you're an alum and you'd like an LU email address. They'll probably submit a ticket for the work to be done and say they'll get back to you. (They'll have to verify info with the Registrar, which means looking at actual paper for you old folks.) And if they give you any trouble, let me know.
Speaking of, what did you guys do to communicate back then? Smoke signals? Flags? Homing Pigeons?

I like that myspace let's you have more pictures but facebook has now jumped on that bandwagon and lets you have a crapload more than myspace. I hate that myspace has been taken over by 14 year old girls though. However, there's a new website like this out. I showed one of the guys down the hall last night about it. It's www.xuqa.com. You have to have a school e-mail address but it's a lil more info than facebook.

Yeah, my experience thus far indicates that I'm not blown away by myspace. If I were a kid looking for fulfilling relationships, it might be interesting. But I've got more fulfilling relationships than I can handle already.
I'll try the helpdesk on Monday to see if I can get one of those "real" LU addresses.
As for back in the day, once you left campus it was really tough to find people you went to school with. The school put out an alumni directory about a decade ago. But the addresses were already old by the time the ink dried. Basically, you had to maintain contact with your alumni friends or they just disappeared.
When the search engines finally were perfected, it allowed me to find quite a few guys I still keep in touch with from back in the day.

And I'll never be able to pull against Coastal. Ever. I may hafta wear a half LU/half CCU shirt to those games.

The only poor saps are the ones that I choose. I'll live off campus. I kinda have to since I'll be running a business while going to school.

I saw. We're friends now. It's official.
You can't really be friends with someone until you're on their friends list on either myspace or facebook. It's a rule.
