Friendly "hoes" billiards was still open last year. Nice tables, but the atmosphere just couldn't match Genes (or the prices). Oh...I don't think anybody mentioned that the smoking was almost nonexistent in Genes last year. You would still smell like smoke when you left b/c of the years of it, but it was nice being able to play without it in your face all the time.
the Drowsy Poet (coffee in corner of Movies 10 strip) was open and doing fine last year too
Nas rockey could be found there from time to time

Johnny Bulls! Bingo! I hadn't given that place a moments thought in 15 years. I used to handle Oldies Nights on Thursdays and Z-100 Nights on Saturdays. The Oldies nights were the lucrative ones for me. There may have been more people in the club for the contemporary stuff, but the geezers knew how to tip. As for the barstaff, I didn't have much to do with them. They weren't crazy about my music selections on Z-100 night.

LUPITT, that BJU story is perhaps the most horrifying thing I've ever heard. How in God's name did you NOT immediately go out and throw yourself under a bus?

I know that Friendly Cues cant match the atmosphere of Genes, but you could hustle a few more bucks at Friendly Cues......
Not to mention "Strokin" did get old after the 872nd time, the holes in the felt would screw with the balls, and dont get me started about the pool cues! All that aside - I seriously did love Gene's and cant wait to get back to run a few games!
BJU - sorry to ramble on in my posts. It was a terrible experience, but sadly, it is an experience that most people believe is the only one they are "allowed" to have. We were told that going to a secular school would be to stray from God's will. Under no circumstances (unless you had extreme pressure from your parents) was a secular university an option. I understand why they preach that because once you get out and experience the world, you realize how much the teaching is close minded and idiot. That wasnt the way I wanted to live my life, and that was not the path I chose. I wouldnt go and throw myself under a bus because God created us with a free will, and my will said - Hey! I really like LU and I am going to go there. In hindsight, I probably wouldnt have attended LU because 13 years of private school would have been enought, but overall - I am glad I attended Liberty because for all its faults - it was academically honest and presented both sides (at least in my classes).
