I can't believe what I just saw on the sports ticker. LU 36 Miss State 30 with a minute to go. We are more than holding our own there in Puerto Rico. Hopefully can keep it close or hope that Miss State doesn't wake up and realize our poor national ranking. We'll see what transpires in the second half of this one.

I wrote this down this morning and forgot to post it. So here it is for anyone who cares to read my pregame perspective:
Hey, we got a game tonight. And they have some very tall people. A bunch of 6-9 guys. Hopefully we can hang around for a while before giving that 20 point padding. I'd like to see Rell and Hubbard score some points.
It's usually this time of year when we get a post player to step it up ala Leo Lightbourne did last year Gabe Martin 2 years before that and Phil Ward the year before that. I forget who was in between Martin and Lightbourne. Glyn maybe? Anway, it's time for that to happen. My prediction: if Stewart gets any PT, it'll be him, if not I guess I'll go with Bigby. If that happens, with the emergance of Anthony Smith, we could have a promising team on our hands. Rell is looking better all of the time, I know Hubbard is good but hasn't shown it much in games. So if it all comes together, I say we're right in the hunt to get a 2 seed in the conference. If it doesn't, however, we could be a pretty bad team. But I don't see why that would happen given our team's history the last 3 years.

He's a little soft and enjoys the outside play to much....i wish he'd bang his body a little more, but dont see it coming...been this way from HS up til now

I dont think either team would like to win. MSU is doing nothing and we just refuse to take advantage.

If we win, we meet Akron tomorrow. If we lose, its an old school Mason-Dixon reset against Mt. St. Mary's (I'm sure Scar has some memories to share if we go down that path).
Let's make a nice run and put these 'Dogs away.

LU needs to take better care of the basketball. At least we are being competitive with Mississippi State.

Its not over if we can make one last night run.
Mississippi State is not a terrible SEC team. They had won four in a row coming into this one and hold a 7-2 record. They certainly are a big notch up from Longwood & Lipscomb who both beat us.

ok- remind me not to open my mouth. Blair now turns it over. LU still down, and Dunton gets wacked w/ a T.

be a real shame if we end up losing by 20. Not indicative of the effort the guys put in tonite. Rell Porter fouls out as well. Monroe back in.

Yahoo is really fast with statistical updates! Blair has 26 Stewart with 13. Looks like we are playing Mt St Mary's tomorrow if we lose.

i love jerry edwards, but he just has zero enthusiasm...we are down 10 to a good SEC team!!! im not one for moral victories, but the boys are playing better. hopefully we can win the next two games. it will be cool to play "the mount" though....that is old school.

Risher is killing me. I expect some carries this year with the refs making an emphasis on it but traveling? Come on! You're supposed to be the one guy on the team that doesn't do that. I guess he just isn't as good as Woodson, at this point, but we need somebody to set up the scorers. It seems like you've got to do everything yourself to get a bucket out there. We might as well have somebody who can shoot out there if that's the way it's gonna be.
Despite my whinning, I'm really excited to see more people scoring and rebounding. I think if we polish up some of the team aspects as noted above we'll be in really good shape for conference time.

Interview with Randy Dunton
He was very happy about outrebounding the Bulldogs 35-29. He was disappointed with the turnovers. Anthony Smith did a great job to get us started. Evan Risher did not get rattled when down by 10 at the beginning of the game. We need to keep striving to get better. Today might be a break through for Doug Stewart who played with a lot of toughness and will. Tomorrow is a big challenge because the guys lost a tough one. Got to get it behind us and get ready for Mt St. Mary. This tournament is a great experience for our kids.

one of the positives outta this game: Doug Stewart scored a career high 13 points against Mississippi State in the opening round of the San Juan Shootout.
