I have on Tivo all of the major events this past month:
Big South Championship LU vs Penn St LU vs Depaul LU vs LSU WNBA draft.
I usually don't do things like this but I was wondering if anyone wanted copies. I don't want to get swamped because I don't have the time nor resources to mass produce these things. Just curious about the interest. If there is a lot of interest I will see what I can do about getting someone professional to mass produce copies and I will have to charge a fee. Let me know.

You might have some legal issue mass-producing and then charging fees.
But they can be shared for free without any problem.

I don't want the FCC on my tail. Ok, if you would like to donate money to offset costs that would be fine.

Roman Numeral Guy,
I do have a copy of the Big South Championship for the Men's last year! I suggest you get the quarter-final game as well because the announcers on there were pretty good I hear ;D. That was the game Dees shot Liberty right to the next round when they were struggling with Charleston So....As far as the lady Flames, I am going to get the tapes to their basketball office (if they say it is ok) and have them mass produce the tapes. Once I get the ok, I will let you know how to get your copies. For my man in Korea, I think a self addressed stamped envelope is in order. I know JimFlamesFan and Roman Numeral Guy are in Lynchburg so that should be no problem. I will post more info when I get a response from coach Green.

The IVVY was me just havin some fun. So, Roman Numerals, nah.

Scar do you happen to have the 1997 LU vs. UVA game also. I would send you a nice donation. To bad you didn't commentate on that game. You might be on Sportscenter with that performance due to the excitement and spectacular play of the Flames.

GOAT,
true story, I was supposed to call that game on radio with Jerry Edwards but I couldn't make it. That was a classic moment in LU history though. That Season Jerry let me call a handful of games with him and I am forever grateful for that opportunity. No I don't have a copy of that game LJ. I still have not even seen it as a matter of fact. Sorry.

Alright, over the next few weeks the Women's basketball office will be making copies of the tapes. I think for those of you in Lynchburg that want copies, you should drop off blank tapes for all the games that you want and label your tapes (don't forget your name). You can work out the details as to when you can pick it up when you drop off your blanks. So if the FCC is out there, NO PROFIT WILL BE MADE BY ME. Just a service to the general public. For you out of towners, let me know and I will get a message over to the office that you want a copy. You can mail you blanks to the women's basketball office.
Also, there is over 9 hours of stuff. 4 games and 1 WNBA draft that lasted 1 hour so plan accordingly.

GOAT --- I was digging through some drawers yesterday and I stumbled across some gameday poster/roster sheets for the '97 LU-UT game with Tom Penders on the cover. I'll try to see if I can scan it and post it here online. As a Texan, I'm sure you'd appreciate it.

You mean the 2 games from last year? I can make copies for you but I won't be mass producing those. Since you asked first though I will hook you up. You have to give me a couple of weeks though but I promise you I will get them to you. IM me your real name and contact info

SLY Fox - that '97 LU vs UT games was a great game in the first half, then there athleticism took over. Penders underachieved with that team of Chris Mihm, Kris Clack, Luke Axtell & Chico Vasquez.
On another note, Scar I have been talking with Marcus White and he is going to take another shot at playing professionally. No doubt he should be in the NBA, I literally saw him pick apart TJ Ford and Daniel Ewing in the Aquafest tournament a few years ago.

Marco was the best point guard Liberty has ever seen. He was Iverson like with his ability to get to the hoop and what hops. Tell Marco hello for me and we are rooting for him to do well. I am sure he has something left in the tank. Remember when you guys used to tease me about being old? I think you guys are the age now that I was back then. Scarry how time flies.

You ain't lyin, I remember I got up to about 215 and thought to myself, wow I can't look like Scar and made a commitment to get myself in shape. Now I hover between 190 and 195 and dropping J's like you use to on Scout team. I remember when Meyer would get so mad when you and Fat Leg would kill us. To bad that was a decade ago, I would like to see your game now.
Were you on the Fresno trip when I was shooting the rock like Mahmood Abdul Rauf when he was Chris Jackson?

Yes I witnessed that 3 point barrage that you hit Cal Poly with. They never knew what hit them. You may not remember this but that was also the trip where Dunton had an episode where he had to sit the entire game. He stood up and stomped real hard then looked like he was going to die. He would tell Naz and me what to let Meyer know about the game but he was done physically. I was actually worried about him for a minute but when he was alright, I had to tease him a little....I may have been above my playing weight back then but I still had hops. Now I just shoot 3's. Getting my ups back though but I have not dunked since 2001. I have not even attempted one anyway but I am going to believe that I can still do it ...By the way it was a lot of fun scoring on you and Marco in those drills.

I never knew that about Coach D in Fresno. He does need to lose some pounds just for health purposes. Does his shirt tail still come out during games? Remember when Marcus dominated Earl Boykins in Hawaii when we got robbed and Hawaii got robbed also. What a trip? The program has gotten away with some illicit stuff.

We will not discuss the events off the court at Hawaii. It is funny the rumors of what really happened on that trip. The things I have heard are hilariously not true...As far as on the court, Aluma hit the shot to beat a top 25 team in Eastern Michigan and we fell victim to a clock malfuntion. What a terrible way to lose. Marco was better than Boykins that day. Derrick Dial was on that day though. Aluma hit a Christian Laetner like 3 at the buzzer though that was crazy. LJ, I will tell you the Big South is not as tough as it was back then I think. UNCA, and UNCG and your group would dominate this league now I think. But there are some really talented individuals in this league. But that is for a different thread. Go Lady Flames! (Had to take it back to the topic).

He must have really been on top of his game that day, because those guys are tough. I have been playing against those guys since they were young fellas, and even back then I would have to strap my shoes pretty tight. I saw Marcus play a few times on film he was pretty good. I wish him the best.

FormerPlayer, you and White have similar abilities in my opinion (without giving away your precious anonymity You seem to look to score more where Marco was a pass first kind of guy. The passes he gave Aluma for Dunks were unbelievable!

If the Former Player is who I think it is you would have averaged 20 points without a doubt if you played with Marco. We had four guys average over 13ppg under a controlled system. And Former Player you played for a dodo coach if you are who I think you are.
Scar you are right about the Big South, it was alot tougher with better teams. UNC Greensboro, LU, UNCA, UMBC, Towson St., even the lower tiered teams were competitive day in and day out.

Goat,
former player is who you think he is and you are correct about playing with Marco. That was our best team in the school history in my opinion. Better than the Hickman, Nwoso, Toomer, Hildebrand teams that underachieved in 93. Better than the 2 Big South Championship teams. Aluma, White, Jackson Graham and Sorensen. Great starting 5 but off the Bench, Che Lugo, Jay Boykin (who in my opinion at the time and now was he was our best perimeter player in terms of overall game) Reed and Hopkins. I forgot Gabe Caldwell not to be confused with Gabe Martin or Chris Caldwell. Except for Hopkins, all were capable of starting for that team. How did we not get a ring?

The league might have been more balanced, but I think anyone would agree WU this past season is the best team to ever play in the league. Fairly easily.

Realist,
not even close my friend. I would say that UNCG in 96 would destroy this Winthrop team. UNCA with Josh Pittman, Kevin Martin and Steveson would run the table in this league today. Not to mention the Coastal Carolina teams of the Early 90's with Muhamad Acha and Tony Dunkin. Dunkin is still the only player in college basketball history to win League MVP for 4 years. That coastal group ultimately got caught cheating and their program has never been the same. Winthrop was good in the sense that they knew how to win close games down the stretch. Talent wise I will take the 2000 Winthrop team led by Greg Lewis (what a stud he was!) over this years team. In fact coach Marshall told me the same thing earlier this year when they came to Lynchburg.

I agree the conferenc isn't nearly as strong as it use to be. It's was a cake walk for WU this year (not taking anything from those guys). I remember playing against Kevin Martin, he was ok but from what I heard the team they had the year before was un-real.
When I played the leauge was much better overall, Radford had the player of the year in Jason Williams, Ryan Charles, Leslie Ballard, Savchenco? WU had Tyson Waterman, Gregg Lewis, Hesan Groves, the list just goes on. The talent pool was high. Teams were beating big conference school's in the non-conference season. WU is the only team doing that currently. Things have changed.
I have to agree with Scar and GOAT, about that team with Aluma, Larry Jack, Marcus White, etc. but the LU 99-00 team was a very close second:Carl Williams, Delawn Grandison, Moe Watkins, Chris Caldwell, Nathan Day, Kenneth Adebonam, Beau Wallace and before surgery David Watson. GOAT you hit the nail on the head, Hankinson was a JOKE.
GOAT, Scar do you guys remember Edward "Gumbo" Marks the worlds best point guard in his mind?

Former Player, Scar can second this but I wish you could have seen Jay Boykin before he tore his knees up. I don't know if you ever saw Rex Chapman in his heyday but Jay Boykin was nasty. Stupid one leg hops and could flat out fill it up. It was a crime that you all couldn't do anything with the group you had in 99-00. I would have fired Hankison before conference. Former Player I would have to put you in the top 5 for just flat out scorers in Liberty History, I remember when I first played with you and said to myself that you were going to be special. You are the modern day version of the microwave! (Vinny Johnson). What do you think Scar?
