Actually, it seems more like an article about how much other schools drive the local economy. And then a blurb about LU. But the blurb implies indirectly that we will dominate this down.

without LU, lynchburg would certainly struggle. the locals know what LU does for the economy and even if they do not like jerry, they certainly love all the new eateries and stores to spend their money.

You should take it. That way, when I do something stupid, which we both know I will, I'll have a personal contact at the EMS.

75K? That's what CEOs and company presidents make down here.

Are you serious? CEO's and company presidents only make 75K! I know the cost of living is cheap, but come on......

How do you do that Scar? Do you take a leave of absense every year when basketball starts up or what? I can't imagine how you get away with living in 2 places.

75K? That's what CEOs and company presidents make down here. now that's just ridiculous! most medics up here, working 2 FT jobs (which is normal) gross more than that. that's just an average for an EMS chief up here- and I'd only have to work ONE job.

75K? That's what CEOs and company presidents make down here. Uh, no. Our own CEO and President both make quite a bit more than that.

guys, I think he was exagerating. Ah. Well, exageration and sarcasm are two things that don't always make the entire trip across the digital realm. If that was the case, pardon me for missing it.

Philly Fire starts at @ 38-42 K, medics make Lt grade which is a bit more- maybe 45+. With OT figure closer to 50+ for your average medic.
The counties (suburbs) pay about the same but most of us work at least part-time somewhere else, some an additional FT job (yours truly, included) so we're talking 75-85.
But the cost of living up here, esp in the 'burbs is ridiculous. Homes in my neighborhood are starting at 300K and only go up- that gets you 3 Bdrms, 2 Bath and maybe a garage on 1-2 acres if you're lucky.

That's why I love Houston. It has the lowest cost of living of any major metropolitan area in the country.
Out in the suburbs of Houston, you can find what PAmedic described for a little more than a third of Philly costs.

Houston metro is exploding from what I hear- huge growth. They're always recruiting up here for medics and FFs.
you guys had a cool medical command physician down there, I forget his name- he used to cruise the city in a Crown Vic doing street time w/ the medics. Very rare- and very cool. Don't know if he's still there or not.
I always assumed it was just as expensive, if not more- to live down there though?

75 K for a city the size of Lynchburg isn't that far out there.

LUConn to answer your question, I only work contracts. I just finished a contract with AOL. Earlier in the year I was with Anthem Blue Cross in Richmond for 3 months. If my contract had continued with AOL (Lost funding for my projects), I would have been working from my office in my house in Lynchburg a lot. I am a Project Manager and my jobs usually allow me to telecommute. I have not worked a full time job in a while. The cost of living down here is nice enough and I get paid well enough that this has worked out well for me. Of course I get paid to work for FTN but it is not anything life changing. Dr. Park and I have had several discussions about creating a TV job for me here that could keep me in Lynchburg all year round. But for now, I will continue to do contract work I think so it will free me up to do TV...Even when I did work for AT&T as a full time employee, I worked from home 80-90% of the time.

Come appraise my townhouse. The city assessor's office rigged me good. I guess that's good for tax purposes but I want to sell soon and the folks around me haven't been that successful.

Haha, we gotta get the certifications for VA first which is what we're working on right now. I'm SC certified (apprentice) and my dad is NC/SC certified. I'm taking my NC test in December and after I pass that I'll be able to get my VA license without testing up there.
Normally tax accessor's do a big group appraisal and throw a buncha the same type of homes together and go with one price.

SuperJon, I have a logo question. The S on Superman's chest stood for Super. Your name is Superjon but you have a J. Shouldn't your logo have an S too? Or is that a copywrite infringment. Also what special powers do you have to warrant being called Super? One last question how can a pair of glasses and a minor change of hairstyle work so well for him? Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen knew both Clark and Superman very well but they couldn't put that together? I can see batman getting away with it because he has 60% of his face covered and even that is cutting it close. Spiderman has his whole body covered so I can see people not outing him but Superman? maybe the worst disquise ever...Im done. As you see from my ID I have Too Much Time on my hands right now. :-)

Me and Superman are very very very (times five) distant cousins, thus the difference in logos. My super powers include being an idiot, knowing how to cheer people up, the ability to blow a bathroom up after eating Mexican (and other various foods), and things along those lines.
