It has been suggested that in an attempt to be more LU friendly and less likely to be filtered, we refrain from discussing LU administration/rules/Liberty Way.
What is the opinion of the members?

OK, now you did it. This topic alone inspired me to register! NO, WE SHOULD NOT CENSOR OUR THOUGHTS. I am not suggesting we lead off w/ 4 letter word-descriptions of who agitated us 15 years ago. And, most likely, after the "new " wears off, most of us "old guys" will stop annoying the rest of you w/ our remeniscing ANYWAY. So, in summation, talk sports if you wanna, talk life if you wanna. Keep it clean, and let the chips fall where they may- we have no control over what the admin down in Lynchburg does either way.

So, hypothetically, you'd rather talk about how stupid LU rules are knowing that in doing so, you could be preventing the entire on campus body from coming here and posting their thoughts on LU sports.
It's something we all did when we were there. Why can't we wear shorts in the dining hall? Nobdy knows. It doesn't make any sense. But we all got over it and it's what we call a "freshman conversation"
I'm not saying everything we say has to be positive, but if it's a tradeoff (which would be) I would choose for policy subjects to be taboo if it meant students could come here and talk sports. That's what the whole point of the board is in the first place.

Bottom Line:
Can you access this site on the LU Campus?

PAmedice - good to see you finally register - only 100 more posts to be full member ;D
Actually LUconn, our conversation about the rules and life and Liberty Way have more to do with shorts in the dining hall. If you read our posts, we are sharing stories about our experiences at LU. While I agree that it has nothing to do with sports, it is all posted "Off Topic". If the students have not found this place already or post here, it has more to do with apathy toward LU sports than filters from the powers that be.
Most posters are alumni who follow the team because of past experience. Most students would rather take the time to live the college experience than post about a dumb coaching move. If the students are that into the team, why would they want to talk to a bunch of distant alumni who are out of touch with the team? They can strike up a conversation in the dorm, stop an athlete in DeMoss, read the Champion, or attend every game they can get to home or away. That is how I followed the team while I was in school.
Conclusion - leave it up to the members of the board.

I echo LUPITT's sentiment. If we are not already banned on campus for our open discussion of LU athletics, I wouldn't have a problem limiting the scope of our discussions to LU sports and steering away from The Liberty Way. But if we are already persona non gratis, then I have no problem with a free flow of discussion.
I think it is safe to say that most all of the posters on this board (posters from other Big South schools withstanding) hold an affection for the school and only want it to prosper and succeed well into the future.
If there is a way for us to freely discuss LU athletics and remain in good standing with the system admins for the campus ISP then I am all for it.

Look, if a person is looking for a REASON to ban this site, I guarantee we gave them 20 FAR before the "Way" thread popped up. Logic has nothing to do it either, just an overall effort to assure conformity to school standards and that can be a very gray area. In conclusion, a thread will naturally die if there is no interest in it- sort of a free market response. lets NOT overthink this stuff- I think we've actually been very well behaved!
*corrected a typo in the first word "thread"* (yes, it bothered me)

i don't think they'll ban it for us expressing our feelings...as long as we aren't encouraging breaking the rules or calling out administration by name we should be fine..

I don't think they even know about this site yet. And I think students would love to be involved with this board. Most students travel message boards a lot, part of the whole 'new media' thing, they just haven't found this one. LUconn's right, though. I thought most people would have grown out of complaining about Liberty after a few years, but I guess it never gets old for some. I never thought it was very productive (or even enjoyable) to make fun of LU, it really doesn't make much sense to me.

Please understand something aLUmnus. I would venture to say (Speaking for the "old hags' here) that no one is "making fun" of LU, at least not maliciously. Most of us 10, 15 or 20 years out merely have learned to view things a bit differently- personally, I see a great deal more in shades of gray, then the black and white in which I viewed the world as a young collegian back in the '80s. Rest assured, we are all very fond of our institution, and look back fondly on the time spent there. Gentle teasing about things that once seemed so critical, but now pale in comparison to the daily stresses of work and raising children (TEENAGERS) is done only in good fun. I certainly intend NO disrespect to the students and faculty at LU. END OF SERMON

You have to know about the topic to really discuss it....so I think this counts me out, talk about it all you want, i might learn a few things and get a few less pink slips.

I think this has kind of become irrelevant, seeing that there hasn't been a problem with the postings here. I think we'll see that the problems would actually start when a large number of students start using this site. I think this board has gone better than you could expect.
