Scar, maybe you can find this guy a job. I'm sure he can use the help.

I've listened to that 4 times now and am still hysterical. first, his crying, the "oh no" and "I'm so sorry".
All that pales in comparison to his calls in the Pacers' highlights: "he passes it to the man" and "BOOM goes the dynamite"
(I hit the floor on that one)
LUConn- that was possibly the greatest post in the hx of this board

Guys, the job is not as easy at it looks. When that clip first started making the rounds a week or so ago I commented to my wife how glad I am that the technology wasn't around for the world to see my first time on the air.
That said, dude just flat-out cratered.

Sly there is no way you were ever or could ever be that bad! It almost sounds like a hoax it is so bad. I don't think I was the greatest commentator ever when I started out but I was not the train wreck this guy was either! WOW. My first time on television after doing a few years of radio was nerve wracking. I was a volunteer for a local cable telecast of high school football. The week before I worked in the truck and there was a 3 man crew. They asked me to come back and they would stick me on the air the next week. What they didn't tell me is that I would be BY MYSELF. 2 minutes before we go on the air the director tells me that I am going alone! Here I am expecting to do color now I have to do Play by Play which I literally had never done and I have to do it alone. Ad all that to the fact that I had never called a football game and you have a rough situation. I still didn't sound 10% as bad as that poor soul!

I will start every telecast next year with Boom Goes the Dynamite!!!! My partner Ray Jones will wonder what the heck I am doing. I am with Sly that this job is not as easy as it looks. I will say that if you can do local cable TV you can do anything. Local cable there is no cough or kill switch so whatever you say in the booth goes out on the air, coughing, sneezing, clearing your throat, any side conversations with stat people etc. Also you don't have all the commercial breaks and the most difficult part is no ear piece when you are in front of the camera so you have to take all of your cues from a cameraman that forgets to cue you most of the time because he is concentrating on running the camera. I have come on camera a few times looking stupid! When you guys come over to watch my ESPN dunk, I will pull out the blooper reel from my 1st days on the air. You have to show the good with the bad right?

I never was THAT bad. But I wasn't exactly Sportscenter-ready either.
I was under the impression that was from a college newscast at Ball State (Letterman's alma mater BTW).

Our "boom goes the dynamite" guy was on CBS THIS MORNING today around 0730; a great way to start my shift. He was supposed to assist with a weather forcast- don't know if he did or not as I was busy out saving a life shortly thereafter and missed the rest of the show.
