Just thought I'd start a thread devoted to the only thing that matters really when you think about the grand scheme of life. The National Football League. I'd just like to be first to say the Bengals will be in the playoffs and if the rookies work out (and sign) they'll be in the Super Bowl. I just thought you guys might want a tip so you can make a little money.
I'll be parked at Mudpuppies in Lynchburg all winter long if anybody wants to join me for some wings in front of 20 TVs with every Football game on. I'll most likely pretend I don't see you though, unless it's Scar because he dunked on ESPN and I'd like to try to be cool though assosication.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm for the Bengals, as a native Cincinnatian I can tell you I've heard this same buzz from the team many times before in the past 15 years only to be disappointed.
BTW, the Texans WILL be in the playoffs this fall. They'll finish ahead of the Jags and finally start to give the cOlts a worthy competitor. Andre Johnson has been much improved in camp and I fully expect him to have a dominant (first 10 picks in Fantasy Draft) type season.

Philly needs to get everbody in camp first. But Andy has the ability to pull a season outta his you-know-what, regardless of who he plugs in the lineup. Not as good as NE though.

I believe NE will struggle at first but turn it on later. Losing 2 coordinator hurts as much as anything. I think Eagles are by far the class of the NFC but the AFC has 6 or 7 teams that could be in the mix....I really am going to miss NFL Sunday ticket this year. Yes I know I pushed it on all of you guys as the best thing to happen to TV since technicolor and the Flames Television Network but I won't be in Lynchburg to enjoy it since I am working up in DC. However when I am there in Lynchburg I will have to go to Mudpuppies and hang out with LUConn and probably GMTM and others. Can't wait to get it started up again. LUConn you are right, the NFL means everything in life!

The Ale House (which is a lot closer to campus in the Old Ragazzi's restaurant is a decent place to watch too. But nothing beats the Scarborough family room with NFL Sunday Ticket for me. I am really going to miss that. I saw all the Eagles games last season and loved every second of it except for that aweful day in Pittsburgh...and coming up short in early Feb.

Look, the steelers are a peice of garbage. Roethlisberger didn't have to do jack last year. If he didn't do anything stupid, they win. Take a look at his playoff performances. It doesn't hold true this year however. So that means it's the Bengals and the Ravens competing for the AFCN crown. If you want to know how that pans out, just take a look at the 24 points Palmer put up on the almighty Ravens D in the 4th quarter @ Baltimore.
The Texans, look alright. I like David Carr, but has their O line improved? Last I heard Carr was looking like he was gonna take a Troy Aikman-like exit from the NFL.

Their O-line isn't much better. Its definitely the team's achilles heal. They switched to a zone-blocking scheme last season and it clearly didn't sink in quick enough. But the defense should be vastly improved after dumping a bunch of older guys and replaced them with speed.

steelers...garbage??? you must have amnesia. he was not counted on to be the man. he just ended up being the man. they are a run first team. as far as his playoff performances....he was a rookie, and despite the problems he did lead the steelers to the AFC championship game...or did you happen to forget that too?. i will take big ben over kyle boller anyday of the week.

Well, who wouldn't? Boller is probably the worst QB in the league right now. As for Ben, he was not the man. He simply held down the ship. In fact they were 1 Nugent away from not being in the AFCC. Their running game will not be effective enough this year to hide is inexperience. Burress gone, Ward who knows?, Randel El more of a return man. Their D is always solid, but I just see last year as more of the stars aligning.

And being a Pats fan is definatly not in NE blood. Nobody cared about the freakin pats 5 or 6 years ago. They're all a bunch a bandwagoning fakes.

MNF tonite is DEFINITELY a good one (thru 3 1/2 quarters anyway). My birds are not playing anywhere NEAR up to their ability, but a good defensive stand just now and we recovered a Mike Vick fumble@ the 15. Time for McNabb and His Royal Highness TO to WAKE UP.

I agree with you about the Falcons - if Kerney doesn't tone down his sack dances and other on the field antics I'm going to stop pulling for them :>)

during the off-season mike vick went to the clinic for a STD or to check if he had something from a previous relationship, and gave the alias "ron mexico". many people tried to order " mexico" number 7 jerseys, but the NFL nixed it. i did not see the whole game and missed kerneys dance. he is usually a quiet leader of that defense. i guess im just old school...just play the game and be quiet.

I was just jabbing a little at you smooth. Kerney played very well last night - that was as emotional as I had ever seen him though. I'm old school too (and not a big fan of D. Hall) but the game is going to (as has been for about 15 years now) the "Miami Cane Warfare" mentality. I see it from just about every team on the college and pro level to the point I am apathetic about it.

Gotta get in on this NFL stuff. The best thing going in sports next to college basketball in March. Even though my beloved Eagles lost the opener (a game they should have won), I am optimistic. We left a lot of points on the table. Akers missed 2 field goals which he never does and I think the D played well and kept Mexico in Check for as much as to be expected. How about that run in the 4th quarter if anyone of you east coast guys were still up at the end of the game. As far as Kearney and Hall, you can tell which of you guys is a VA fan and which is a VT fan. Smooth I gotta tell ya, Kearney was acting up last night after every play he made. And HBF, I can't stand Hall either getting in TO's face like that. Plus Mathis provoked Trottier into getting ejected before the game started. Eagles are a better team and they will prove it as the season goes on.
