Here's an open invitation to all you current LULAX players out there (or former team members who still follow them) to update us on the guys/ladies.
the mens' site doesn't update the game results very often- wondering how you're doing and how everyone is recovering!
Coach, stop back anytime!

I didn't say a word! a bit territorial aren't we? all in good fun- tryin' to give her and the others some publicity. that and the fact that I have a daughter who is most likely very near her age renders me quite harmless!

Welcome Kansas, stay a while. I hoped that putting our link on your board would lure a few of you over here- a lot of big fans over here, even though the guys from Texas are old, deaf and senile. Don't believe a word they write. Best wishes for you and the guys, and post your game results from time to time- we follow as much as we can!

Here's an email from the wife of one of the assistant coaches:
Many of you were here when the lacrosse team was in a horrible accident down in Alabama. The coach of the team has experienced many aches and pains since then and we have just found out that he has bleeding on his brain and has to have brain surgery. He is scared and needs prayer! Please pray if you think of it! His name is John Westfall. Also, keep his wife and 3 kids in your prayers as these past few months have been very difficult on them.

There has been NO word on these guys or their coach. I check their website faithfully every couple days; NO updates. I post occasionally on their board- NO replies. I hope all is well. KANSAS if you're out there, whats up?
maybe someone on campus can track one of these guys down and get an update for us?

I had an update last week, but forgot to post it and deleted the email. From what I read, they are doing okay for the most part, but many are still suffering from their injuries, with a couple players still going through surgeries. It seems the biggest problem is money, as they are fighting with their insurance on their claims, and the medical bills are huge.

Guys: Thanks for praying for me. My Sons are doing great and Jackson has really developed his stick work. He does pretty good on the Lacrosse field for an 8 year old. Jeremiah is more into Baseball. They are both in the full recovery mode. I stepped down from Coaching at Liberty after the season. The team finished 20th in the nation. I'm suffering with several health problems and this whole accident deal has really taken a toll on my Family. I have surgery on my elbow on October 14th and Brain Surgery on November 17th at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am hopeful to get back to normal but it is a long road. After the Brain Surgery I will take early retirement from my job with the Airlines and we plan to return to our other property in New Mexico. I look forward to spending more time with my Family. I have been asked to coach again at the University of New Mexico. I very much would like to take that job but it will depend on how I do with my Brain surgery in November. On the team, Liberty is sitting on a Gold Mine if they would just give it support. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the USA and around the World in Countries like Japan, and England and even China and Germany. There are a lot of Christian Players looking for a School to play at but do not come to Liberty because it does not get the support needed from the school. Whether on Varsity or the Club level the talent is there to win the national Championship. Fellowship of Christian Athletes now reports Lacrosse is one of there biggest Ministry sports behind only Football. The field is ripe but the School needs to get behind it. I had the pleasure of playing on the first Lacrosse team at Liberty in 1985 and nothing was done with it till I came back to coach in 2003. There is enough talent among Christian Lacrosse players to win a National Championship on the Club or Varsity level. I really believe that Liberty could go all the way and play in the NCAA National championship and beat even Notre Dame if the School really got behind it. If that happens be sure I will have a front row seat to see the game. I just hope I'm not an old Man when it happens. This years Team has Tom Metallo taking over for me and he will do a good job. Tom is a former All American from the Air Force Academy and is a Government Professor at Liberty. They have a lot of good Freshman this year but several of their top Players did not return or are still injured from the accident. It will be a rebuilding season but I believe if they get the support they deserve from the School they will be high in the National rankings. All I know is if Liberty puts the support into this team it will bring great things to the University. Otherwise it could be a wasted potential. Thanks again for all your Prayers. I owe you guys for the comebacks in my health. I am so thankful and indebted to all of you. The power of prayer is a mighty tool God has given us. God Bless, John Westfall LU Class of 1987 Romans 8:31 PS. You can pull up the League Liberty plays in at www.uslia.com. You can pull up their Conference website at www.selc.org.
