knowing that i am an ACC honk, it pains me to say that right now the ACC is not very good right now. Duke is clearly the best and carolina and N.C. State are two and three right now, and both those teams have issues that make them vulnerable, carolina's youth, and state's lack of consistency with their guard play. from 4-11, the teams are very average and UVA is just bad this year with seven scholarship players. maryland and wake have dreadful guard play...md had 29 turnovers against duke last night. BC will be better, but they are in a lull right now. clemson and FSU have filled up on cupcakes, GT is very young, miami inconsistent, and VT is seeing in their second year of league play it is just not that easy. i think all conferences this year except for maybe the big ten and big east are top heavy, and the rest of each league is simply average. im hoping for a duke, uconn final so the two best teams will play for the title.

hey me too!
I give Leitao until next year before that team is at the top of the middle in that conference. I think him with Singletary and his own players that he'll bring in will do quite well.

I agree with you Bigsmooth, VT is 0-3 and B.C has yet to win a game, Wake has now lost two in a row, Maryland got killed last night. UNC is getting better and better. I was over at SCAR's house the other night and we talking about this subject. I think that this year will be the commitee's hardest year ever. There are so many that will be flirting around 20-9, 19-10. I don't think VT is gonna sneak up on anybody this year. I think Miami has a chance to be the sleeper cause they didn't get off to the best start seeing that they have everybody basically back from last year. Look for the U to make a good push in conference play this year. Also I think what will keep teams in ball games this year is the fact that the big men are not as strong. It's the Landlord and then everybody else. You guys attend the blockparty last night unreal. For the sake of not wanting to type anymore I will stop there but I could go on for another hour or two...... Go Heels !!!!!!

Smoothie, I got to see your boys play in person last night up in Charlottesville. I had a motley crew of coaches assembled and we got comps. It was my my Chip that coaches at Hargrave, Les that coaches at Heritage, my cousin Leon Hill that used to coach at glass and is an official now and Roy Roberson from Holy Cross. We had a blast but the Cavs lost in OT. Singletary is a one man show right now but he gets a little help from the freshman Diane. They were in foul trouble all night too. UVA was up 5 with 2:30 to play and couldn't score! It was frustrating.

i agree with LUConn, leitao will have the hoos back into the think of things next year. they will be in the middle of the pack with the class he has coming in. they play good defense, but are a two man show right now with singletary and reynolds. i dare say singletary is one of the top point men in the ACC. too bad he will not get any hype. SCAR, i listened to the game last night on the net, and UVA had no one who could finish. UVA may lose a lot of games, but they will be competitive and play hard. no quitting like in the past....BTW, roy has his hands full friday night with LCA. that will be a good battle in the VIC.

Since my thoughts on the ACC are well known, I'll pass on this thread.
Let's just say I have supreme respect for a certain team in Durham but nobody else impresses me much at all.

You only respect them because you have to at this point. Did you see them play UMD? Flop flop flop flop.

what game were you watching? you are the biggest homer besides sly. duke is the best team right now, and your UConn team is 2nd. i do believe that UConn has more talent and in the end it may show but right now give the dookies their props and be objective.

What? that had nothing to do with homerism. They rightfully killed UMD. They were the much better team. I also believe right now they're the best team. But have you ever seen Lee Melchioni play defense? That guy's on his back more than (insert dirty joke here). And that technical on Ibekwe? It was a foul as you can't push somebody when wrestling for a loose ball but it was not a T. Maybe if he's got some kind of bionic arm with superhuman strength I could see why Dockery flew 10 away, but I really don't think he does.
edit: beleive it or not, my dislike of Duke is pretty much equal to my dislike of Maryland. I might even dislike Maryland even more. The only reason I even don't like Duke is because Christian Laettner's buzzer beater to put Uconn's "dream season" to an end scarred me as a child. I've never been able to let it go. Although 2 championships at their expense has helped ease it.

all home teams get calls and cetain elite teams get them on the road. it is just fact. if melchionni can get away with a flop so be it. im sure UConn gets their share as well as they are an elite team. i do understand the hatred about laettner breaking your heart, we all have those stories in our sports fan lives.

Well earlier in the week I said that Miami was going to be a sleeper and they just pulled off a pretty impressive win at the Dean Dome... Harris is healthy and they might have the best guards in the league... Look out Hurricanes might just be back.
