ok, started this one for you Josh Mac fans-
it is nice to LU track get some nat'l exposure after years of struggling off the radar- esp ON campus. My experience w/ the coaching staff back in the '80s was very positive- great people over there and they work very, very hard.
I did hear, several years ago now, about the one coach (I'm sorry, I cannot recall his name) who suddenly passed away. Sorry to hear that: when I was young and in shape, I ran w/ him several times, just casually- not related to the team- he was a cool guy.

Liberty’s Danielle McNaney earned her second ECAC championship in the pentathlon, while Josh McDougal claimed his first IC4A title in the 3000-meter run at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center this past weekend during the IC4A/ECAC Championships. libertyflames.com/track/news.asp?news_id=2030

Well, we're in 2nd place at the Big South Outdoor Championships (we won the indoor in the winter). Radford leads the men, Coastal leads the women. We're one point behind Radford, 25-24, and Coastal has a 42-19 over the women.

So, whats new at LU. Well, with the BigHam back, things are once again going well. At least so far so good. The team can finally concentrate on what really matters, improving on our efforts to become nationally competitive. Our freshmen are helping out the effort quite a bit. Not just Josh Mc, but Hoskins is doing a great job, and on the girls side you might want to take notice of Charlene, and Danielle J. Well, things will only improve with the new indoor track, that is if they get things up and running smoothly.
So, here we go, in an effort to glorify God, through our actions in track

PA
don't forget the resussitation paddles! You will need them since you have not been there in so long. Lynchburg in general, as was mentioned several times on this board has really changed.

Low blow on Lynchburg but I get your point. There is still a lot of people in need of orthadontia but there are lots of other types of people too. And they are building houses left and right. Even a lot of half million dollar homes. Also Wydhurst is Lynchburg's first "planned" community. It has some nice shops and reastaurants. It doesn't fit the rest of Lynchburg though. You kind of feel like you stepped into a different dimension.

Planned communities are not all their cracked up to be. They all start to look alike after awhile and the HOAs are mini-governments gone awry.
I always loved the NW-side of town near where my old station Z-100 was located at the time. It wasn't "planned" but turned out terrific nonetheless.

Oh, by the way.
Men won the Big South Outdoor once again, almost by a miracle. With hamstrings going out everywhere it somehow still happened. Although I've never seen our team walk away from a BS Champs this beat up.
The girls unfortunately lost, but they did it with Coastal doing it LU style. They entered all their girls in so many events. They tripled their distance runners, and field eventers went everywhere. Thats how we won the last few years, and they finally caught on.
Looking toward the future, the men's seniors score 79 pts. and the womens 81. So we have some work to do, but don't be surprised if some of our recruits can make up the difference.

other individual honors:
There was a tie for the men’s (Coach of the Year) honor with Liberty’s Brant Tolsma and VMI’s Mike Bozeman sharing the recognition. The men’s and women’s Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year awards went to VMI senior Ty Denby (Scottsville, Va./Fluvanna Co.) and Liberty senior Danielle McNaney (Gardner, Kan.) On the men’s side, McDougal of Liberty was named the men’s Outstanding Track Performer of the meet In field events for the women, Butts record performance in the high jump was complemented by a pair of Liberty performers. McNaney won the javelin throw at 128’ 01” while senior Aimee Riley (Black Mountain, N.C.) won the pole vault at 11’ 6-1/4”. In the finals of the 800-meter run, Liberty junior Chris Lyons (Virginia Beach, Va.) won at 1:54.93. Liberty fared well throughout the competitions including the field events where senior Dan Royal (Fort Myers, Fla.) won the discus with a mark of 168’ even.

and in typical LU reporting fashion, the above article makes reference to the fact that "The Liberty University men’s and women’s track and field teams collected nine first-place finishes" but omits how we actually finished overall!
