Way to go! The Lady Flames plated runs in the fifth and sixth inning en route to the program’s first-ever win over a nationally-ranked program as Liberty down 25th-ranked Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 2-1, to split a Big South doubleheader at Terry Field, Tuesday afternoon, at Winthrop.

Its a bizarre setup where A&M-CC has to travel to Rock Hill and then play an entire league schedule in just a couple of days. That's a brutal position to be in for the Islanders. They can't just run their top-2 aces out everytime like most schools can during league play.
That said, we'll take victories over Top-25 teams anytime we can manage them.

I'm assuming they do this to cut down on travel expenses for everyone?
Other than doing what is necessary to maintain a conf affiliation, why on earth would a team/school agree to this kind of arrangement?

As shown by their ranking, they have a very good team, but the chances of getting to the NCAA's as an independent are very tough, so it's definitely worth it to them to do this...It has paid off for them with back-to-back tourney appearances after winning the last two Big South titles.

ok- that makes sense. I was trying to figure out the advantage to being in the BSC of all things- forgot about the tourney. Thanks WEF

Man,
I was so close to going to see that game but I went to lunch with my wife and we didn't make it back up to campus. I could have witnessed history!

TAMCC will be tough to beat with Sarah Pauley on the mound. They will beat tough to beat for anyone, despite their three seed. She will likely pitch every game with no limit on how much you can run people out there. Her ERA is 0.55
