The program that Bobby Richardson kickstarted was ranked in the Top 25 of both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America this week. That's quite an accomplishment. That raises the bar for everybody els ein the Big South and increases the league's stature nationwide.

For RPI LU Is ranked in the low 90s, Birmingham-Southern was somewhere in the 60s, and WU and CCU are both in the top 35/30.
As for it raising the stature of the league, the Big South been quite strong in baseball since I started following all college sports (which was last year). I think our #21 Women's BBall also helps raise the league's overall appeal.

Neither Coastal nor Winthrop were able to emerge from the Regionals. But the fact that neither completely cratered bodes well for the league. Perhaps we'll be in their shoes this time next year once again looking to make some noise in the NCAA Baseball Tourney.

thought I saw late last night that Coastal eliminated UNLV? was that a consolation (?) bracket?

WU and Coastal both won their first games, WU 2-1 over Wichita State, Coastal 14-7 over UNLV. Both then dropped the winner's bracket game, WU 2-3 to Tennessee, and Coastal 9-4 (I think) to Arizona State. Coastal beat UNLV again to eliminate them then lost and were eliminated by Arizona State. WU lost to and eliminated by Wichita State 2-3 in their third game.
Pretty disappointing performance by both teams. I honestly thought both would make it to the super-regionals.

Don't be too disappointed, realist. The teams who are advancing to the Super Regionals all seem to have a common thread ... plenty of experience winning in the NCAA tourney. You have to walk before you can run and both CCU & WU are picking up their pace. I'd just love to be joining you guys in the race.

BSC baseball is clearly the best sport in the league, and the teams compete well. do not be surpsised to see a BSC team in a super regional soon. LU will make noise next year, and hopefully we can get back to the regionals liek we did in the past.
