Does anybody question the timing of this house cleaning? I for one applaud Jerry for making the moves now rather than later. It send out a drastic message that LU will not stand to be a pushover. As for Dr. Park, we're sad to see him go. His legacy will be resurrecting the flames club from obscurity in the short time he was here. Also give him credit for stepping down rather than stab a friend/former client in the back. He was a class act and went out on his own terms.
Lets hope that the next football coach can salvage a decent recruiting class for next season.

Your question seems a little tardy. But I believe the timing was perfect. There was no point making any moves until the season was wrapping up. And any later would make it tough to get someone in here in time to have an impact on recruiting.
And we are not the only school looking for a head football coach right now. Look around, the openings are coming fast & furious.

Well that's an abrasive username. I question the hire of Park in the first place. I had no idea until this all went down that Karcher was a former client of his. Can you say "Conflict of Interest"? What if Notre Dame had hired Willingham's agent as their AD? Anyway, this is all good I guess, lets move on

I disagree w/ one point GRLU- I believe it was more disengenuous to NOT do his job as AD (as directed by the Chancellor) and remove the head coach of one sport, even though its a major sport. Friendship has no place in business when it becomes a roadblock to success in the big picture.
thats just the way it is.
(To be fair, the above statements are relevant when going by the assumption that Park WAS directed to axe Coach K but refused. To my knowlege that was never substantiated "OFFICIALLY")

From what I have heard, the Park firing had nothing to do with his not wanting to fire Karcher. Park was on the way out either way. Apparently he didn't even know Lou Holtz was coming to speak and give advice about the program until he read it in the paper.
The other thing to keep in mind is that the other firings had NOTHING to do with football. Those people didn't even work with the football team in any capacity. So there is more to the house cleaning than just getting the football team on track. Curious if we ever find out what the reason was.

In hindsight it was a bad idea to hire an AD with personal ties to the head football coach. In all likelihood Karcher mentioned Park as a candidate to Jerry when the two were still on good terms last spring. Unfortunately Liberty set themselves up for the whole fiasco.

Well from what Dr.Park told us last spring in his press conference that he had turned it down earlier and then decided to take it.
