Are you sure he didn't get stuck with taking Benji the weather dog for a walk?

The dog's name is Radar. And taking him on a walk is a great excuse to get out of the newsroom, so don't knock it. ;D
I was offline earlier this evening when it all went down. Frankly, I thought this would happen Sunday or Monady. The timing was a little surprising.
Otherwise, the only real surprise to me is the collateral damage. Anytime there's a head coaching change, the new coach as to be be able to bring in his own staff. Certainly , a few of the current coaches will be interviewed if for no other reason that to maintain some continuity with the kids.
Speaking of the kids, this is a very fragile time for them. There will be temptation for some of them to leave at Christmas break. Let's pray that their hearts will be settled and they will have a peace about the situation until matters are stabilized.
Frankly, until the coaching staff finishes up Saturday I'm not entirely comfortable discussing the new candidates for the coaching staff. Many of the posters on the board have heard similar names being mentioned. Saturday night after the game, I'll have no problems being open about those candidates.
But despite the frustrating season we've endured, Coach Karcher and his assistants deserve the opportunity to finish out their time at Liberty Saturday at Norfolk with their dignity intact. I'd love nothing more than to see the players rise up and win one last game for Coach K and his staff.
Now I have much less problem naming candidates for the vacant AD position. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize Lou Holtz is an obvious possibility. He may have no interest considering his age and health. But he would certainly make an attractive hire from a findraising and credibility standpoint. There are plenty of other candidates with much less name recognition. But I have to believe the job is Lou's if he wants it.
