Hey, does anyone know whatever happened to LU village? Is anyone living up there?

Good question. As a long distance alum who doesn't get back to campus much, I'm very curious myself.
Any Lynchburgers have insight?

I found out two year ago and forgot. I remeber it being a crazy and intersting story as well. From what i remember, there was a falling out and a money issue between the contractors and Liberty and TRBC. The place is like a ghost town now. I think a few of the suckers still live down there, but thats defintly one of LU's coverups. Its a real shame too. Its a beautiful area that over looks that valley in the back drop and everything seemed to be running smoothly. I think Lahaye was building a house back there as well. Hopefully they start it up again after all the hogwash isdone on campus.

Liberty Village is a ghost town. Nothing is up there but just what was initially built. It is a great look out over the city at night, plus it also makes a great make out session with your special lady on those "passionate" nights in the Burg.
and yes....they do patrol up there...REP CITY!

It's time to set things straight, Liberty Village has nothing to do with LU. Falwell put his name on it, but that's about as far as it goes.
It's kind of sad though. There were many seniors (old people) from all over the country who had sold their houses and were renting apartments in Lynchburg waiting for their retirement home in Liberty Village to be finished. They kept getting delayed, and now it seems like they were totally screwed over. Such a shame.

Woah woah, It officially had nothing to do with LU.... but unofficially it did with LU and TRBC. Its a coverup. I wouldnt be suprised if someone people were knocked off to keep things silent haha nah but for real, TRBC had some stuff to do with it. It all depends on who you ask

I was thinking of an accurate comparison for Falwell's involvement in Liberty Village. The best I could think of would be Michael Jordan on a Wheaties box, if MJ was involved in the idea of developing the cereal. He's on the box, he helped create it, he helps sell it. But he isn't in charge of it.
I heard there was a disagreement. See, the people were building the Village wanted to get paid, but those in charge had other ideas.

looks like I'm not the only one having trouble keeping the checkbook balanced! A shame, though- I'm sure there are a lot of disappointed elderly folks. No word of that whole thing ever came out- most of us assumed that place was up and running w/ no problems. Things always seem to work out in the end, though.

I heard they were going to build a hockey rink up there and have a club team for retired people.

i worked up at liberty village for a year doing the landscaping and the redhaired alumnus is correct. LU and TRBC had nothing to do with liberty village. The land was bought from one of jerry's friends...bahh i forget his name...no there is no conspiracy....Jerry was just a coverboy for it...
The developer was out of new york. had 2 other projects going at the same time liberty village was being developed. both of them were in atlanta. they both were going bankrupt and the developer wasn't having the money to pay trades....the same thing eventually happened up at LV... people were pulling off the job because they weren't getting paid...i know my boss was owed some 100,000 grand... the developer has since gone bankrupt i believe...
There were people that moved in when i left school they moved into one of the townhomes....i feel sorry for them...
i always said it was stupid and wouldn't work....no one wants to retire to lynchburg va...

the developer did look for LU and TRBC for help...once things got bad looked to them to invest in the project with promises of revenue sharing and other things...i know jerry's son looked into it and probably saw the writing on the wall and said "no thank you"...That is why alot of people probably blame jerry for its failure...
