Ok-over the past 7 years, LU has won 5 of the 7 Sasser Cups (the other 2 going to Coastal Carolina)...and I'm predicting that Coastal will get another one this year, and we'll place second again.
Here's why:
Coastal won the football championship, finished ahead of us in volleyball regular season and tourney (it was a rough season for our volleyball team unfortunately), they have a women's golf team and we don't, and they're killing us in the tennis rankings. We're currently ahead in Softball, but then again they're ahead in baseball and are a mid-major powerhouse in baseball (where's Realist at?). Granted, there is still Outdoor T&F, but lately Coastal has been proving problematic in our continued dominance of Big South T&F since, umm, we became Division I and joined the conference. We did finish ahead of them in regular season men's and women's basketball which helps greatly, but our men's poor performance in the tourney hurts, and our women's won't get bonus points (unfortunately) for going to the Sweet 16. Coastal's men's golf will prolly finish ahead of us as well. Can anyone see something I'm not seeing that'll give us hope for reclaiming the cup?
