Due to the rapidly increasing amount of traffic on this site and the rapidly increasing amount of real life encroaching on my personal time, I have decided to add a moderator to help keep track of what's going on on the site.
So, without dragging this out too much, please join me in welcoming Sly Fox to The Firehouse staff. Please treat him with the same kindness and respect you have shown me.
Thanks again to all of you for making this site so much better than I ever imagined it would be.

Well - there goes the neighborhood. Good help is hard to find Mark!
Seriously, thanks to SlyFox for jumping in. This board has proved to be great entertainment and a solid source of information for me. Additionally, this board is unique in that we extend respect to everyone which is rare in the internet sports message board world.

"Sounds great. By the way, what's the moderator do?"
Nothing if you guys behave yourselves....which you always have so far.

I'm away from the board for a day and that is what happens? Seriously, thanks to Mark.
Now as soon as I can figure out how to ban somebody, PAmedic is toast! ;D

Since I do alot of the whining, I thought I'd post something positive. Thanks to Mark or SLY or whoever added the news ticker thing at the top of the home page, and the calender upgrades are phenomenal!
Maybe someone could post a thread explaining it to the newbies.
Great ideas, look forward to more upgrades as they come.

Mark has started the flash screen on the front page listing upcoming LU events.
I have begun to build up the calender with all of the schedules for all of the sports. Its far from complete but it should be of some assistance to keep track of which team is playing everyday and where.
We're working to amp things up a little now that school is back in session and we are getting some new visitors to the site.

Briefly, and SLY can explain it further- all dates entered on the calender (click on the icon at the top of your browser screen on the control panel/bar thingy) have a link. When you click on it you get SLY's creative explanation of the event, along w/ pertinent info- such as times/locations, etc.

Sly -
Great job on the events section. The site is looking good. I'm starting to wonder if we should look at doing the "where are they now" and "Flames athletic history/player stories" on this site now. Chances are the oficial site will never get to it. I think we could potentially have a feature interview or two posted here.

How in involved can we get w/ this particular format though before we bog down ProBoards? I don't know enough about its capabilities- will it support other types of media or pages?

Not sure. I sense is we can't do too much - but I am no expert when it comes to that stuff. I was just thinking about content we could add for members and visitors.
This board is really an awesome board.

Its certainly developed into a great resource for those of us hundreds of miles (not to mention a decade or so) away from Lynchburg.

A very nice feature you guys may or may not have noticed is the ability to be notified when annoying people like ME send you PMs. By selecting "preferences" in you "Messages" toolbar, you can have a dialog box pop-up or an email sent when someone, again- usually ME- sends you a PM. I'm sure you'll all sleep better at night now, knowing this. Glad I could help.
