I just heard that Thom Park has officially stepped down as Athletic Director. This move will take effect immediately. I am wondering if this has anything to do with Lou Holtz!?

Have definite confirmation Dr Park is GONE.
we had been hinting at this for a bit, but now have it as fact.

FSN had this news but I'm sure was holding it, I'm told Monday will be the next big announcement with more thruout the following week.
Evidently we've been moving quickly and have made some key decisions already. VERY ANXIOUS to see what is next!

what the heck is going on? ? i thought dr. park was doing a great job! if his ties to karcher are that tight then oh well...he does not need the money anyway. he is a very rich man with plenty of ties. i seriously doubt that this is career suicide. i wish dr. park the best! he is a good man!

Dr. Park resigning is shocking to me. You have to thinkg something else is up. I know he was loyal to Karcher - but as AD - would he remain that loyal at the expense of the football program given our current direction? Has to be more to it right?

I was told- he had a directive from THE MAN, and refused.
no options at that point.

I tell you one thing.....I dont like the fact the AD resigned. Obviously I am removed from the situation and sometimes hires dont work out, but this doesnt really help when it comes to building momentum for your Athletic Department. I mean, basically the guy is in sales and it takes time for people to warm up to you. Was it that he wasnt a good fit and they realized that after the fact or was he just not doing the job? This cant be just because his good buddy was going to get canned.

I bet the directive was fire Karcher. Park said no. Pure speculation but if that was the case Park was putting his personal feelings for Coach K ahead of the interests of the football program. I backed Coach K from day 1. I supported him in the forum after we were skunked 157-0 in three games. but by the end of the year - it had to be done.

There has to be more than that. Dr. Park was there 5 months. It takes real guts to tell your boss "No" when you havent even been there a half year! To me that shows a total lack of commitment from Dr. Park. Maybe it was better that he is resigning.

I was offline this evening when everything broke. Let's just say there werren't any shocking developments. Certain posters on this site have had very accurate information in regard ot Coach K and Dr. Park for some time now. Their credibility as sources has grown immensely as a result.
Now that the ugly news is out, the real fun begins as we begin the speculation on the new AD and staff. And yes, Holtz will play a significant role int he selections whether he is personally involved or not.

Evidently we (LU) never got him (Park) to sign a contract at all- he was month to month. I'm guessing the powers that be felt they had to pull the trigger and move on, as they couldn't come to an agreement.

that and there was evidently paperwork issues as well- no need to drag anyone thru the mud here- just that people need to understand there were valid reasons for the actions taken here- this was not all on a whim.
I wouldn't post this stuff if I wasn't confident of its legitimacy.
