to you. Congrats on the CWS championship. Great baseball team. Being an ex-college baseball player I can appreciate the level of play. Great program and another title for the Horns.

They had a celebration in Austin today. As a player you would appreciate having about 6- or 7-thousand fans showing up on short notice to celebrate college baseball.
Believe it or not, they should be better next year with essentially their entire pitching staff back.

Speaking of football season. I rattled the cage of the athletic department this morning. I asked them if they could update the website more frequently with any football news. ANYTHING. I hate the fact our website (which is a recruiting tool by the way) stays stagnant during the summer months. Even if nothing is going on make it look good - give us something!

I get the impression that most of the web staff is on vacation or summer break right now. But yeah, it really is a little sad seeing our site so stale.

I never got a response after I sent my e-mail. We're a division I program and we need to present ourselves as one. You're always getting better or getting worse - you can't stand still.

SLY: First over 1000, like their was any doubt. Maybe you need a part time job! at least you keep us informed, though you are most DEFINITELY delusional when it comes to all things Texas.

So I'm bored at work today. Sly said they don't have videos of themselves on the internet. So I figured I'd googe around. The Houston NBC affiliate's website only has 2 sports casters and neither of them are you. So I'm guessing they don't have your profile since you may not be a full time on air reporter. Regardless, can you please explain this to me: Why the freak is there a dog on the news team?

I'll have to start treating Sly with more respect now that I know he's a big time celebrity.

I looked that site up when SLY first told us about his work. Apparently this dog is the biggest celeb in that hack town of theirs. The more you browse their site, you find the thing gets drug around to all kinds of events- schools, parades, helps w/ the weather forecasts (?) etc. Says alot for the "action" going on - or lack of it. A dog that mangy would have been shot up here.

You guys have no idea how big of a deal that dog is. He gets treated like royalty. Soime consultant decided having a station mascot dog named Radar would help viewers connect with the newscast. Now there are Radars or Dopplers in newsrooms all across the country. Radar has been Leno, Dr. Phil, Inside Edition and scads of other shows. My kids think I'm cool because I work with him.
All that said, he's always sniffing around my desk tyrying to steal my lunch. That sucks.
Yeah, I'm not on the website since I'm only a parttime on-air guy. I was the main sports guy at my last station before the plug was pulled on it a year ago. So I had to land where I could and this place fits the bill.

Yeah but you're in the Houston market - that's huge! My buddy is the weather guy here in Harrisburg. He's gine from small market to mid size. he loves it - has his own morning show now. My other friend is the station director at FOX in Baltimore. He actually had the Hilton girls from The Simple Life intern at his station for one of their escapades. One of them says a bad word on the show and my buddy says " Hey we don't use that kind of language around here!"
Funny stuff

Guys, its just a job. But I appreciate all the attention.
One of my buddies from LU named Randy Ahrens does weather over in Austin. Otherwise, I don't run into many LU grads in my field. Oh yeah, one of my roommates from college is head of creative services for the top-rated ABC affil in Tuscon.
