very good read. it is refreshing to see someone not trash LU in the media. im sure many think that risher would get suspended or expelled for saying a bad word, if he did, but it does show that LU is human, people make mistakes, and sports is a great break in the game of life....sports is something most people love and it can unite people for at least a few hrs every night, even if you happen to not like a person because of any reason, at least you can be united to root for your team.

I'd rather think that we're some kind of inhuman domination machine that they need to work together to destroy before we bring the world of sports to its knees.

Whelliston is a good writer and looks out for the mid to small majors. I used to email him updates when he was just getting his mid-majority site going, and apparently espn has hired him to a full gig now. His regular site is mid-majority.com.

Kyle's a good guy. I sat with him Tuesday night at the game and we talked extensively waiting for Dunton to come out of the locker room. Swapped some old Big Sky war stories.
His midmajority.com Web site is a must-read for low- and mid-major hoops fans.

....So the good Rev is recruiting the Matt Dunton...a 5 star bluechipper to get us back into the tourney???.....Can you say Lynchburg College that would be a better fit for Matt....Can you be serious.....I know he is Coaches son and all but he is not suited for D1 ball but I can already see that LU will have him for a few years..or intill they clean house again

well, he get a free ride because he's a faculty member's child right? Can you say walk-on? Take it easy. I doubt he'd take a scholly.

He'll probably see most of his on-court time during practices. I seriously doubt you'll ever see him starting for LU. I also think we have a good handle on the kind of recruits we need to be successful. If we don't, it'll be obvious within two years, and hopefully the new AD will be able to take care of that rather swiftly. Way to bring the negative energy to this thread, though.

a lot of negative energy from LUAlum. dude, you really took that recruiting talk the wrong way. i have seen matt dunton play, and maybe he could play in the big south....who knows. he still has a lot of development to go. if he wants to come to LU and a schollie is available and he fits into the plan why not?

Theres 100's of Matt Dunton's in the area intill liberty recruits like a true mid-major they will stay on the bottom heap of the bigsouth conference...They wont beat Winthrop this year or next have you seen those guys??

Us not being on "the bottom of the heap" has nothing to do with recruiting. It has to do with us losing a number of players to transfers and problems, not having any senior leadership on the team and Winthrop being a VERY good team.

For the record, I thought that the writer of this article did a good job, and I did send him a letter to that effect.

the school just needs to hop on the bandwagon and give a hs stud a hummer and just keep passing him the ball....

or at least a remote control hummer....wait, didnt he get suspended for that one?
Great article. Great read. Good pub. Enough about Matt Dunton, lets look at next years class who will pay immediate dividends, not some high school junior!
