When Ambrogi was in high school, they called him "Mr. Perfect," because he seemed to have it all. At the University of Pennsylvania, his teammates and friends were shocked by his death.
Ambrogi made headlines when he was an All Catholic tailback at St. Joseph's Prep. In fact, he was an MVP of the Catholic League.
"Model student, teammate, hard worker. If you were thinking of the ideal of a well-rounded person, he was the ideal. (He had) a 4.0 in the classroom, outstanding out there on the football field -- He was just a great young man, and it's just a devastating loss," said Bill Avington, of St. Joseph's Prep.
The police and the medical examiners office are not releasing the cause of death, but authorities said they are not investigating a criminal act.
The Penn football team's coach, Al Bagnoli, released this statement:
"The Penn Football family is deeply saddened today with the news of the suddent death of one of our shining lights, senior Kyle Abrogi. Kyle was a remarkable young man, a true scholar-athlete."
People who knew him said Abrogi was better known for his character than for his exploits on the football field.
"One of our secretaries was telling a story. When he was a student here, his car ran into her car in the parking lot and rather than drive away -- no one saw him -- he went in and took responsibility and offered to pay it for her. It just shows you the character of the guy, the honesty he had," Avington said.
Abrogi was studying finance at the Wharton School of Business.
