Can we just have a moment of silence for ABC having MNF. I mean, the trade off is NBC having the Sunday night game, but that means speeding after church...

Yeah, it really doesn't affect anyone but you poor cableless college kids. On the positive side we most likely won't have to hear that awful ESPN Sunday night crew ever again. On the negative side, we may have to hear Bob Costas more than we want to. Also, NBC never did put the score and time up in the corner when the had it last. They refused.
Now that I'm thinking about it, Adelphia won't give us HD around here. The only way I was able to get it was over the air so my MNF HD source is gone. Dang, that sucks. I'll have to give DirecTV a harder look now.

I work at an NBC station here in Houston. And the managers were practically doing cartwheels in the halls.
There's still a year to see how the crews will work out for the networks. I haven't heard yet whether or not ESPN is moving their Sunday night crew to Mondays. I believe both Al Michaels & John Madden's contracts were tied to ABC having Monday Night Football. I wouldn't rule out Madden switching over to NBC.
Adelphia has a national reputation as the poorest cable provider inthe country. All the boardrooms shenanigans drained all the company's cashflow. They'll likely end being bought by one of the two cable giants: Time Warner or Comcast.

Direct TV is a must for really big NFL fans like myself. I have the NFL package (so I can see my Eagles no matter what). They are not sure about the announcing crew for Monday nights. It may be a faulty assumption that Madden and Michaels will move there. They could keep that Sunday night team or go with a whole new team (Ray Jones and me? NOT GONNA HAPPEN BUT ONE CAN DREAM). NBC could hire Madden for Sunday night games as his contract with ABC runs out at the end of next season.

have DirecTv and am VERY happy with it. as many sports as you can watch- though they can't play nice w/ Comcast so I don't get ALL the local stuff due to proprietary reasons. the flip side is 5 or 6 Discovery channels, 2 or 3 history channels and oh, about 100 kids channels for my little ones.

DirecTv is great when it doesn't rain. But other than NFL Ticket, I didn't see an advantage to digital cable. So I switched back to cable so I could use their ISP (which is awesome). Although I here Comcast makes you pay through the nose for it. Time Warner's Roadrunner is superb for $29.95/mo.

I thought Time Warner and Comcast have already agreed to jointly buy Adelphia. Adelphia just needs to die as soon as possible. I heard that ESPN will keep the same crew, and I pray that Bob Costas isn't let anywhere near the NFL, or I may need to watch the games with no sound.

ESPN President Mark Shapiro said today that no decisions have been made regarding the Monday Night team. But he said to expect change. All that tells me is that Al & John are done.

They could keep that Sunday night team or go with a whole new team (Ray Jones and me? NOT GONNA HAPPEN BUT ONE CAN DREAM). I think Ray would be a bit more in his element... He could still use "blocks" and "served" but instead of volleyball it would be referring to hits by linemen and subpoenas delivered to former Hurricanes. If you need an O.J. let me know... let me clarify... a sideline reporter not a double homicide or a Philly soul band from the 70's. (Who ironically sang the song "Back stabbers".)

Ironically OJ was one of the 1st sideline reporters in the business back in the early 80's. And to stay on the O'Jays theme, he and Nicole had "992 Arguments" which led to the Brentwood incident. You have to be a big O'Jays fan to know that song.

Scar, you being an Eagles fan, wassup with T.O. crying on national T.V. and whining about all he has been through and he only makes $7MM a year and wants to renegotiate or he will hold out. He almost sounds as bad as Sprewell and his contract negotiations in the beginning of the NBA season "how am I going to feed my family on 3 year $21MM deal". T.O. use to be the real deal now his a studio gangsta like Anfernee Hardaway, Kobe Bryant etc...

I say pay him and lets move on. The NFL is the only league where you have to do what T.O. is doing because the league has all the power. They can cut you with or without cause without giving you a red cent. He does deserve more in terms of his value because his agent screwed up last year. The Eagles got him for far below market value because of that Free Agent paperwork that was not filed on his behalf. However I wish they would take care of that stuff behind closed doors because you can't come off any other way but greedy and selfish when you are making so much more money than 95% of the people in this world! I hope they resolve the conflict soon.

He is going to get his money no matter what. That is why pro sports is getting watered down. Supply and Demand. T.O. supplied the numbers and now he is demanding to get Randy Moss Cheddar.

In this case I am going to side with the player. Normally I say stop crying but T.O. case is a little different than, say, Sprewell. Plus he has Drew Rosenhaus for an agent. He is a shark. I think he could get me a Hockey deal right now and I don't even ice skate....Absolutely right about pro sports being watered down. But the NFL is a great product. Give me college sports any day of the week though.

From everything I've read, the customer base will be split down the center of the country geographically, for the most part. East coasters can expect to become TW customers. The West side can expect to become part of the Comcast collective.
I would be thrilled to be a TW customer. Hello faster internet connection!

Time Warner's Roadrunner is fantastic. And the digital phone service is supposed to be great. But we haven't made the move yet. It runs on the Roadrunner platform which has had some service issues as they install much of the new fiber on our side of town. So we are waiting before making the move. The bundle of digital cable, Roadrunner & phone is a very cost-effective alternative to that Adelphia crap.

It's official...The Insider has learned that Liberty Basketball tv analyst Tim Scarboro has turned down an offer to join the ESPN monday night football crew. The president of ESPN said, "We were shocked but we perfectly understand him wanting to stay with the Flames Television Network. Their affiliation with Sky Angel makes them ESPN's biggest competitor in sports broadcasting." In a related story, Sky Angel will attempt to bolster its reputation as a leader in sports broadcasting by adding SkyAgelCHS. Scars reply. "This is bigtime! ESPN has ESPNU for colleges and now SkyAngel has SkyAngelCHS for christian highschool sports. I can't wait to broadcast games in the cafetoriums!" You can always trust The Insider for accurate information.

Insider, I think you get bonus points for using the word 'cafetorium'.

Alright Insider you are getting funnier. I will give you some credit where it is due. But you have to spell my name correctly. It is ScarboroUGH....Sounds like the Insider has watched a few of those demo tapes that Christian kids send in to get recruited. We could seriously do a blooper type show with the volume and quality of tapes that kids send in. The funniest one I ever got was a kid that wanted to sing in the Sounds of Liberty and play basketball. He was a terrible singer, slightly better than William Hung. He was a better singer than he was a basketball player and his competition looked like a 7th grade gym class. Add the long pants and shirt sleeves that they wore for the games and you have a classicly hilarious tape.

I sgree wholeheartedly with Scar. The quality of Insider's posts are increasing dramatically after some weak early entries. The schtick is beginning to stick.
We need to get a tech savvy guy like El Scorcho to stream this video Scar references. That sounds like it would blow our Ball State sports guy off the net.

I may not be able to get a copy of that tape but I promise you the hits keep comin'. I am sure the coaches office has a box in there full of stuff like that. I used to watch 3 tapes like that per day. Maybe someone close to the program like Insider (assuming he is a true Insider) can get copies of some of these tapes.
