Hello fellow firehouse people. I have yet another great and marvelous idea. I have found a way to make money like the credit card companys do it. Yes, they thought compound interest was their little secret until THE MASTER CHIEF BLEW UP THE FIRST HALO RING! (sorry) We all know how a cd works. If not, go read about them. You deposit money and after it being tied up for three months (usually the minimum) you get it all back plus interest. Using my wonderful little Visual Basic program I wrote a simple, mind you I'm not smart, calculator that simply repeats a mathematical equation to the point you specify. Anywho, you start with 1,000 dollars in one certificate of deposit. 2: You add fifty dollars a month (150 after each three month period of course) to the ending balance and at a generous rate of 3% (you will most likely find rates between 1 and 2 percent on a 90 day deposit) and 24 years later you will have invested 18,000 dollars of your own money and the return will be 100,000 big ones. It's been a while since I ran those figures so I may have the 24 and 18 mixed up.......actually, my memory is bad so my numbers are probably all goofy but if anyone out there wants to do the math starting from scratch knock yourself out. Funny, I bought a new computer with XP on it so I could use Basic and now I don't even own the program. 20 years, 100k return on 20 thou investment. Whoever invented compound interest is a smart debil.

Your mind is just crafty enough to be dangerous. As a general rule, CDs offer one of the lowest returns on investment of any option. And don't even get me started on the insurance racket. That's a license to print money and a legal form of extortion IMHO. But its a necessary evil in oiur current legal climate.
