I just checked out the bookstores website, and the LU gear is SERIOUSLY lacking. I was looking for an alumni license plate border, but there is nothing available. It all goes back to my rants on the marketing. You have to invest in branding a sleek look that will attract people to buy your product. Now I like the new look logo and would buy something with that on it, but you there is nothing available. What is up with that!!!!!!!

They actually have a TON of stuff with the new logo on it. You just gotta go to the games to get it. The booth in the Vines during games has so much sweet clothing you wouldn't know which one to pick up. The book store has everything else you'd need in terms of plate frames, stickers, etc. They just don't sell it online. I've looked too. Now if they could just sell jerseys...

I think you will find in your days away from LU that the administration is not alumni friendly. I bet most people on this board would buy some of the sweet gear! I know I would!

For my two years of faithful service at the LU newspaper, all I wanted was an LU football jersey and a women's basketball shooting shirt...
I did get a men's basketball spirit shirt (it says Flames Fanatics) and a baseball hat...
But if we sold jerseys... I would snatch that up. The sad thing is that the old ones are just sitting around... doing nothing... oh, how much would I pay to deck myself out in an LU baseball jersey...

I can tell you that they auction off old football & basketball jerseys at the University of Texas periodically. The other sports usually sell them at the end of each season to raise money for theitr programs.
I agree that I would be interested in buying an old jersey ... particularly baseball. But that doesn't appear to be an option at this point.
I did buy a decent Liberty Alumni shirt a few years ago at the bookstore when visiting the campus. But the pickings were extremely slim. If there is any new gear with the new logo, I'd probably be interested. Particularly if they had little kid sizes. I'm tired of my son & daughter running around in burnt orange and never representin' the Flames.

Universal T's is the company who sells the items at the games. www.universalt.com/ They have a ton of stuff at the games not sure what is on the website. Also the LU bookstore is never open but I think they have a link on liberty.edu. I don't understand why I go to the LU bookstore and they have yellow hats?

There was article written in the school newspaper not to long ago about this same thing. The title was "where are the Larry Blair Jerseys" and it was basically about the only Liberty gear you can buy is a purple shirt in the bookstore that says LU. It is just another one of those things that just makes you wonder where are these people and their common sense when it comes to making some cash.

maybe w/ a new AD comes a new marketing strategy, incl a better approach to direct sales? couldn't hurt, from what you guys are describing. maybe a high school kid sees a jersey on an alum at his local school and it influences his decision. better than hoping they take the initiative (at age 17) to send a tape in and "beg" to be recruited!

This could be why it's so hard to get good LU stuff, especially jerseys. Boise State seemed to have the same problem. sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1989239Well, we've got the new logo, now we just need to work on the winning part (and, of course, a D-1 football team).

try sticking fabric softner sheets in the armpits- you can wear it for a week then, or go w/ the tried and true Aqua Velva bath(or, alternately- Old Spice) : the ol' redneck shower.
*EDIT: OR SO I'VE HEARD*

Wife is sick of seeing me in it. Got it on ebay - sweet stuff. I went over to Universal T's last year and the owner let me go through the stuff they sell at football and basketball games - nice stuff. They have it all - hats, t's, mock turtlenecks, etc - they even have car flag! I think the administration has traditionally discounted the marketing power behind this type of stuff.
As for the game worn stuff - I called the football office last year and suggested they hold an auction where some of us old schoolers could get some stuff. My son loves the jerseys and stuff and as my office has grown so has the room for game worn helmets and jerseys! My suggestion went unanswered. I called the equipment people for football and basketball - e-mailed them too - I got no response. I even e-mailed the Director of MBB operations - again no response.
I bet they'll be expecting a response to the Flames Club material I requested - want to bet?!
I think the Athletic Department is missing an opporutunity here.

1st- greetings and welcome to the board- another "30 something" guy from PA: COOL! (A friend of mine runs the PA Dept of EMS out there in the capital, thats all I know about H'burg!)
that'll help balance out the ego from TX (kidding SLY!)
2nd- home comes I'm the only guy that didn't think to look on E-bay? still getting the hang of that site. I'm dangerous w/ a credit card. Do they still have LU gear on there?

I haven't seen the stuff on ebay for a week or so. I have the contact name of the guy selling the stuff though. You can e-mail me for his info if you'd like.
Also the folks at Universal T's have a ton of stuff - great folks to deal with.
Look forward to talking the Flames with you in the near future!

They were trashing some old basketball stuff last year in which one of my fellow students had connections and got his hands on some. I was hooked up with this God-awful warm-up top from the early 90's. From what I have seen, I think the Athletic Department is doing you all a favor. The jerseys and helmets would be nice though. You "has beens" need to move on to the new Logo!!! Jk
