Last year's contest against Chattanooga came down to the wire; I think we came through in a big way by putting up points on defense and special teams. Final score, 43-40 us... Which is, I think, the first win Karcher ever got on hostile turf, outside of Charleston Southern.
Last year, Chattanooga had three wins. They've already matched that total so far this year, and they're receiving top 25 votes (although they are not in the top 25).
Prediction: Well, we ain't scoring 43 again. I say 84-2, Chattanooga.

yikes- a wee on the pessamistic side ED?
I stated last week that I am no longer predicting scores- but I think we'll play them tougher then THAT. I think it may be w/ in 2 TDs.

I don't think we will win by that much! I was at last year's game. Our special teams gave the game away to you. We have new kickers and special team coach this year, we are much improved in that aspect. Actually, we are much better than last year's team. But 84-2? Yall will give me 81 points in a bet?

ED is in a bad place right now re: this team. Forgive him.

I thing we are in a bad place right now. Staying competitive this week would be a huge boost for us. While the Mocs are showing improvement, we appear to be heading the other direction at the moment. But I'd love to be pleasantly surprised on Saturday.

I was at the UT-Chattanooga game last year--and I will say that it was the most entertaining game of the season--but I would say it was one of our better played games. Erick Harris had an AMAZING game and I want to say he ran two long TD's, our special teams was amazing that game.
That being said, I don't see a repeat performance this year. We held our own last year-but with a very different team. I'm not with eddantes lol--I'll give us 2 TD's because of scoring last week-but I will say they'll still beat us pretty soundly. As always-I hope I'm wrong--and I think Karcher is probably grasping for what little hope is left at keeping his job-so he might try and do something crazy to turn it all around this week. Let's hope somebody does something crazy to pull off a good game if nothing less!

Two things: Number one: if your expectations are low, you'll avoid dissapointment.
Number two: About Karcher letting his assistants call the shots for the next game... rumor has it that that's exactly what he happened at the end of the 2003 season... and then we rattled off 4 straight wins...

Sounds like a plan!! Also, instead of "our special teams WAS amazing that game" i meant WERE. Hate to be quoted sounding dumb!!

Hate to rain on yall's parade, but your special teams weren't that special! Ours was extremely bad, they were the whole season, not just against you guys.

Come on, gomocs. When your team is struggling the way ours is right now we are grasping at straws. Don't burst our bubble about the "glory days" of 2004. ;D

I'm starting to think my magnanimous prescence in the stands led to the improvement in our game- if only a little. Perhaps I should make the trip weekly to boost our morale!
then again, maybe not!

As I mentioned before the year started - UTC dominated the stats in the 2004 match up - we got some big plays on ST and D - what are the chances of lightning stiking twice? I say:
UTC 45 LU 10

Yea, gomocs--Don't be a hater we don't have much to grasp at, that's for sure!! And just to talk a little smack-our special teams is what beat ya'll last year! Okay, that was all the smack we've got the right for. (and we might not even have THAT right) I just want us to do something on Saturday. Besides get beaten mercilessly. I've got my concerns...

Funny when I am being accused of talking smack when I say we were terrible and our special teams were extremely bad!

Yes, I was just kidding--and I was the one talking smack I just told you not to "hate" on our special teams because it's all we have to hold on to, haha. Are many of ya'll coming up for the game on Saturday, gomocs?

We in Chattanooga can understand your frustration about how things are going. I doubt we will have many Moc Fans at the game. The main fans will probably be parents and friends.

I think you guys will find LU a very nice place to visit- great people, decent facilities- everyone is very friendly. Well, at least they were to me, but I am one of the beautiful people, just ask SCAR, SMOOTHIE and GIVEMETHEMIC.

oh, and welcome to the board KYMOC. I'm reminded of a commercial running lately for a new product but I won't go there.

Thank You for keeping it clean. The KY of couse stands for Kentucky. I actually have a couple friends that graduated from LU back in the early 90's. And I even considered pursuing my M.Div online through LU.

As I mentioned over your site, I was born in Chatty where my parents graduated from Tennessee Temple. As a result, the city has always had a special place in my heart.
I've grown weary of making predictions. So I'll pass. Let's just say I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

I think I'll agree with bigsmooth and say 38-17.
(I feel like it's an ambitious prediction--but I'm going to put in the effort to be positive this week...well, for the moment)

My gut feeling pick of the week, which is raising eyebrows around my newsroom (well, at least with my SE) ...
Liberty 20 Chattanooga 17
Don't ask me why ... just a gut feeling ...

Man, I hope you're right. I'm still going w/ the feeling that we keep it w/in 2 TDs. That would be nice, anyway. Esp if we can score 14+

Yeah, my Dad is on all of the TTU boards and Danny's efforts to right a sinking ship have caused some waves. Some of the old guard aren't crazy about his new direction. But its what needs to be done.
