Im gonna go out on a limb because I was at the game a couple years ago and I think that if that delay hadn't of happened we could have won. Therefore...
YSU: 21 LU: 27
No I do not smoke crack (or partake in any sort of illegal drug), no I have not been brainwashed by the Athletic department, no I did not hit my head on anything. I honestly think that we could win this game. Feel free to rake me over the coals a thousand ways to Dover, but that is my opinion

I thought we might win this one before the season started. YSU struggled last year, I thought we would be better, and I liked the fact the game was at home. But after two weeks:
YSU is going to line up and run the ball 1000 times and I don't know if we can stop them. We are so banged up on defense, shuffling guys at LB, paper thin. I can see YSU controlloing the ball and clock. Offensively, I don't think Brock Farrel can challenge them. As Coach K said, Broack manages the game and is effective when he can turn and hand off. I don't know if we have a RB on our team that can take over a game and allow Brock to do his thing. I think in order for us to score points we're going to need some big plays - Zach maybe the guy there. It hurts me to say this but based on what I have seen:
YSU 35 LU 10
I want to be wrong! I hope I am abused after the game for this pick! But I just don't see it and yes I am still a Karcher fan!

H'BURG you are right on the mark. My original thought was 35-10 as well; however, since we are at home, I'm thinking the RBs may attempt to step it up a notch. I basically figured on 1 TD thru the air, 1 on the ground, and a FG.
For RBs, I'm hoping Greiser shakes off the shoulder stinger and gets some work this week. His size and style lend themselves well to a ball control, smash mouth, run it up the gut game plan- which is the only way I think we can be competetive this year.

I appreciate it. I ate a bran muffin this morning and coffee to jump start my old sysytem.
Working fine now in case you were wondering.
I saw where Ryan Greiser had a QB hurry on the stat sheet. I wonder if that was a typo or did he actually see snaps on D.

I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised by the addition of Smitth at QB. I am not just saying it when I call him a great athlete..

hope so, we could use somebody w/ an arm, and Zach would be a great weapon at WR.

I am really starting to question the character of coach Karcher and the LU football team and the ability to recover from all the embarrassing losses that we have endured since he took over. In the past we have failed in a big way every year since Karcher took over. I will find out this weekend if the team can recover from the beating they took last week and finally beat a quality football team in Youngstown State. A win would certainly change my opinion of them in terms of character and expectations for them the rest of the season. The pressure is on LU to win because you must defend your home turf and figure you are going to lose to someone on the road besides Bill and Mary. I haven't determined who that might be but it is going to happen. Lets hope that things fall into place at the right time because this game is huge for us for the sake of the rest of the season. Just not many more opportunities for LU to redeem itself if they lose this one. I don't even want to predict this one in terms of a score. To do so would be very difficult to do. Just win the thing for God sakes.

Steve:
I think its as much on the players as it is on Karcher. I was pretty impressed with his speech at the end of practice yesterday. Frankly, I don't think enough players were embarrassed by the 59-0 defeat. A good number of them seem to be there to just get the scholarship. Not enough play with heart and passion. This will be a telling test this week, you're right about that. Karcher's just as sick of the mediocrity as the fans are.

Thanks for the comments Chris. Coach Karcher needs to light a fire under those guys before this game and for the season. This would definately be a breakthrough win for LU if they get it. No doubt about it!

It is erroneous to say that this is a make-or-break weak. For the last two years, Liberty has gotten off to an ATROCIOUS start, and needed to win out just to reach (or last year, surpass) the vaulted .500 mark. I think we won four straight the last two years to close out the season. Besides, I think that anyone on the coaching staff would say that a 5-6 season demonstrates progress -- provided that we win the other four games while in conference play (thus ensuring our first title). The real season doesn't start until homecoming against VMI.

I don't know about that. I am talking quality wins here, not just wins proper. Our 4 game winning streaks over the last 2 years have been against suspect competition (mostly other BSC teams)or other teams with poor records. Not the kind of quality wins that would justify calling them "breakthroughs". In my opinion, you don't have a breakthrough win until you beat someone worthy of respect.
