I was in your neck of the wood yesterday. Stopped in Storrs to check out the campus - very nice set up. I know with the move to DI why the football program had to get a new stadium but the old stadium looked pretty cool. Nice on campus location.
Where did you say your folks lived? I came off of I-84 down 195 south to campus -was I close or are they closer to Hartford?

They live in Manchester, which is right next to East Hartford, which is where the new stadium is. Storrs is like a 20 minute drive. That's what's great about the state. If you were in it you were at most an hour and a half away from them.
I'd been to a few games back in the AA days and that place was pretty cool. Never been to the new place, only driven by it. But it is huges and wonderful. Built with expansion in mind. Didn't Gampel Pavilion look like the Vine's Center? It is the same except they have bleachers and an upper deck. Anyway great campus, not near too much though. You should have stopped by the Ice cream place at the farm accross the street. It's made from scratch by the university. (they have a huge agricultural department, in fact it used to be an agricultural school)

I thought the same thing regarding Gampel - looked just like the Vines. I love ice cream too so I'll be sure to hit the dairy when I am up there again. I have clients in Boston, Danbury and Stamford so sometimes I just drive it for some time alone vs. flying.
It was my first stop in Storrs though!
