Since I dumped the 'Operation' concept, we've played our two best game of the year. So I won't go down that road again. But here's a quick rundown on this week's visitors to Williams Stadium: Towson UniversityTowson, Maryland Enrollment: 16,000+ (2nd Largest in Maryland) Conference: A-10 Nickname: Tigers Towson Official Football SiteTowson Fan Site on CAAZone Boards2005 Results:9/1 Beat Morgan State 29-21 9/10 Beat DII Lock Haven 70-0 9/17 Lost to New Hampshire 62-21 9/24 Lost at Northeastern 56-41 10/1 Beat Delaware 35-31 10/8 Won at Rhode Island 23-14 Leading Passer - Sean Schaefer (FR)120-of-195 for 1587 Yds with 12 TDs & 10 INTs Leading Rusher - Nick Williams (SO)560 Yards Rushing & 6 TDs Leading Receiver - Andrae Brown (JR - Converted QB)35 Catches for 586 Yards with 7 TDs Leading Tackler - Jordan Manning (RS FR)52 Tackles Including 11 for Loss Obviously, the Tigers aren't using youth as a crutch.

For some reason, reading this made me feel a little sick. Their FR QB looks amazing from his numbers. I didn't know they were any good.

Their run/pass numbers are very balanced. And that victory over Delaware certainly qualifies as a quality win. Their are legitimately good inspite of their youth movement at the skill positions.

By the same token, these guys have a weak defense -- giving up 31 ppg (largely on the backs of shoot-out losses to New Hampshire and Northeastern). The rush defense is 74th in the nation in I-AA -- better than Chattanooga (who is 116th -- the worst) in that respect. They do have a potent offense -- 11th in the nation in yards per game, 15th in the nation in scoring.
I think it's going to be as true a test of Liberty's ability as any non-conference game we have scheduled, and I think that LU will pull it out on Saturday. Of course, I also said that I thought the Red Sox and the Yankees would be playing in the ALCS (although I was more than pleasantly surprised when the latter was eliminated).

I like your optimism, Ed. There hasn't been much of that sentiment around here this season. Over on the Towson board, they are reporting that five players will be serving a one-game suspension this week for violating team rules: www.caazone.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=33161

Here's a little history lesson for youngsters on the board from Towson's Game Notes for Saturday:
These guys used to be one of our rivals back in the day when Hburg, PAmedic, Scar & I were roaming the mountain.

i know delaware is down, but that is a huge win for towson. the blue hens are a perennial I-AA power. we will hang in their with our new weapon terrell, but lose 45-28.

Where's Chris Lang? He seems to be the swami around here, almost nailing the Chatty game.

Well, I for one appreciate both the quality and the quantity of Chris Lang's reports.

SLY, I think your reputation precedes you. (of course, by admitting I read it, I'm outing myself as well) Saw this from MAT1992 over on the Townson board:
Maybe somebody oughta tell them we're FRIENDLY. All in good fun over here- and I don't think anyone could say that we're c0cky at this point.

Uh, I'm not sure what they have to be careful about unless it is bulletin board material. I've never been called a spy before. I guess that can be cool in a James Bond-esque fashion.

I have more faith after the guys' last effort but am no longer committing to predictions- bad karma- but I think we will keep it w/in 1 TD this week. (LU w/ the points)
