Here's our final 2004 schedule:
September 4, 2004 - 7 p.m. West Virginia Tech
September 11, 2004 - 7 p.m. @ Kent State
September 18, 2004 - 7 p.m. Lehigh
September 25, 2004 - 6 p.m. @ Youngstown State
October 2, 2004 - 7 p.m. Gardner-Webb* (Homecoming)
October 9, 2004 - 7 p.m. William & Mary
October 23, 2004 - 7 p.m. @ Coastal Carolina*
October 30, 2004 - 1:30 p.m. Charleston Southern*
November 6, 2004 - 1 p.m. @ VMI*
November 13, 2004 - 1:30 p.m. @ Chattanooga
November 20, 2004 - 1:30 p.m. Elon
Now let's start breaking it down. We start off with a gimme. Then its off to NE Ohio twice in three weeks. I've been to the stadium at Kent that the golden Flashes call home and it is a dump. That said, it will be a tough matchup for the Flames. Ditto for Youngstown State.
Week five we open what little there is of Big South play against Gardner-Webb. OK, time to vent. It sucks to be in the Big South. But as long as we are in this Mickey Mouse League, we need to win it.
Thre rest of the non-conference games are actually fairly interesting. Both William & Mary and Elon should be fun home games for those fortunate to live within driving distance of Williams Stadium. And Chattanooga (it will always be UTC to this Choo Choo City-born guy) will present a nice test on the road.
Frankly, with no Marshall or Central/South Florida on the schedule there are no obvious blowout losses to point out. So if Coach K can finally get his system up and running this fall there is no reason not to expect a winning season.
Any other thoughts?
