Jeff Sagarin throws all of the I-As and I-AAs into the same rankings of 239 Division I programs. Montana at 69 is the highest rated I-AA. 187th Florida International is the lowest I-A. Here are some of interest to us: 70. U-Conn 95. William & Mary 99. JMU 147. Richmond 160. Youngstown St. 169. Hampton 184. Towson 188. Gardner-Webb 198. LIBERTY201. Chattanooga 202. Elon 212. VMI 214. Coastal Carolina 226. Charleston Southern 227. Norfolk St. www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt05.htmObviously, Sagarin isn't showing CCU much love.

How can CCU be lower than VMI?

My bad. I forgot this is the Sagarin rating poll bull. They have Harvard 20 spots ahead of Rutgers. I know RU isn't a bunch of world beaters but they are 5 TD's better than any Ivy school.

I'm not giving commentary ... just posting the numbers. But they do create a nice springboard for discussions.

No No - I didn't mean it as a dig. Just when I first saw the rankings I was a little confused. Then I remembered Sagarin has all of these crazy formulas and all. Not one of my favorite polls. FYI - I backed you up on the CCU board with the JMU folks.

I hope the LU football team will live up to their own hype. I really hope they excel this year.

didn't get to CCUs board or AGS but I bet the Coastal guys are FREAKIN out BIG TIME over this one. They really get upset over that stuff. Maybe we're just used to getting no respect!

Very true. You have to be a Harvard MBA to understand the wacko Sagarin formulas for the rankings. Preseason rankings are fun - Sagarin rankings confuse me - but at the end of the day it comes down to playing the games.
I love college football!

We have got to do better than this. It's pretty bad to be rated lower than Gardner Webb or Towson. Besides I don't have a whole lot of confidence in the Sagarin ratings.

I know we are dangerously thin on the OL but for some odd reason I feel good about this team and the upcoming season. There are only two teams on our schedule that are head and shoulders above us - UConn and W&M. The rest can be had on any given Saturday. However, we can be had on any given Saturday. I just think the ball is going to bounce our way this year. I can't explain it - I just feel it.
