Our current lack of success aside, if you were scheduling games for next season, (or two seasons from now) which way would you go?

Count me strongly in the camp of those who want us to continue to schedule as many I-As as possible. I'd rather get smacked around for a quarter mil and give our kids an opportunity to play on a stage where they'll be able to tell their grandkids they played than beat the Concords of the world anyday.
Of course I'd like to be back in a position to put a scare into the big boys from time to time.

Since we are in a conf and have guaranteed games, keep scheduling 1A teams: eye on the prize, right? (And the money helps right now- lets be honest!) If we were an independant, struggling to fill the schedule like back in my day, yeah- take what you can get.

we should always play one 1-A game a year strictly for financial purposes. then all I-AA's the rest of the way. i would rather play a non-scholarship I-AA or "mid-major" as they say or the savannah st's of the world then concord! if you do play a D2 it needs to be against a legit top 5 team though that could backfire against us.

I think the conference schedule, one 1A game, a couple of games in areas that you target for recruiting, and one patsy whether it is 1AA or D2. The bulk of the schedule has to be in the league you are in with one or two gauranteed wins and one or two shots at competition out of your league. A lot of players on the roster are from Florida. There should be a game on the schedule down there so players can get soem press in their home towns and potential recruits can see the Flames play.

We need to keep scheduling 1A teams with 1 and maybe 2 per year. We need to concentrate on at least 1 in the ACC, since that conference is in the immediate geographical area and then go for the MAC or teams like Navy, Troy, Middle Tennessee, Central Florida, or UAB. Need to schedule more in state teams like JMU, W & M, Richmond, Hampton, and others within the Mid Atlantic area like App State, Western Carolina, Chattanooga, Delaware, Villanova, Hofstra, Lehigh, Towson, Furman, Wofford, and Citadel. 1 division 2 team could be thrown in there as a tuneup if scheduling becomes a problem. As far as the BSC schedule is concerned it should represent the weak part of our schedule. That is the way I see it right now.

I don't know how much say they have in working out the schedule but the stretch against Uconn,W&M, and Youngstown was terrible. How many fans are going to come out to a game when a team hasn't scored in a three weeks. I don't understand why LU wants to go 1A when they haven't made the playoffs in the 30 year program. When we get abused by WM and Youngstown like we did this year we should focus on playing teams we can play with or get a coach who can get us where we need to be.

oh man, lets NOT go down THIS road again. We beat the living daylights (Bond- James Bond) outta that topic in about 5 other threads. Suffice to say that it is, has been, and will probably ALWAYS be the main goal of this program, even if we NEVER make the 1AA playoffs.

Although we may be beating a dead horse PAmedic--I think it is something to look at. Why would we go up a level when we are barely competing at the current one? I think things could turn around easily with some changes (that I won't mention, I've mentioned them before-and so has pretty much everyone else!) but at this point, I'd say working for play-offs and scheduling teams that we can grow through playing-be they 1-A or just quality 1-AA (and preferably, not get slaughtered) should be our plan of action.
