I'm sure that all of you are aware that before the game tomarrow that they are breaking ground for the new football operations center. My question is will this significantly improve the recruiting of top notch football players to come to LU? If they build it will they come? Or is it a means of trying to attract a new coach so he can start the process over. I'm not sure that to think about this. I would certainly like to know what this field house is going to have in it. I do know that they are expecting completion of it by next fall. Any comments are appreciated.

I have only heard that it is being built. I have heard no specifics about the plans.
That said, fieldhouses and facilities in general can have a big impact on the opinions of 16- and 17-year-old kids. I used to cover recruiting and I can tell you that facilities play a HUGE role in the process. So much so that the bigtime programs invest heavily in upgrading every year to keep up and in front of the competition.
Who is our competition for recruits? Good question. But if we want to come across as a legit program building toward the future then we will need to invest in infrastructure.
Of course, coaching candidates also love to see shiny new toys with which to entice recruits. So this could serve many purposes.
