Sam Gado and the Green Bay Packers are taking on the Detroit Lions in Lambeau today...
Here's the scouting report on Green Bay's rush via ESPN: With their running back corps depleted, the workload has fallen on Samkon Gado. Like most young backs, he is inconsistent from week to week but shows some flashes of big-play potential. He has good power and gets yards after contact but doesn't get great blocking by his offensive line. He could have some success on cutback runs and misdirection plays when the Lions over-pursue, but he doesn't always exhibit good vision and quick decision-making, and his guys up front don't do a great job of coming off the ball and sealing off the backside.

many very nice mentions during the game- Theisman likened Sam to Edgarin (sp?) James at one point, and said "what do you have to do to prove to a coach that you belong in this league". Of course, the obligatory references by cranky Paul to the fact that he put the ball on the ground 3xs over the last 4 games.
Also quite a few close ups of a very determined looking Gado- he looks bigger to me every week.
No mentions of LU that I heard. Had he been from FSU or Miami I'm sure we'd have been reminded ad nauseaum.

Man this guy is good!
I've been pumping Sam Gado at work so much, people are sick of it...but it's awesome!

You guys catch that play where he threw the forward pass out of his own endzone, avoiding the tackle for a loss and therefore a safety? VERY VERY smart!

Actually the commentators mentioned Liberty several times...even made reference to Dre Barnes and Eugene Goodman. The best line came from Paul when talking about Gado being the third back behind Barnes and Goodman. His comment..."who is evaluating the talent at Liberty?" Also, on the packers website you can watch Gado's post game press conference. It looks like he is wearing a Liberty jacket.

the funny thing is, on ESPN Sunday Stud- the RB candidate is Rudy Johnson of Cinnci, who did less on more carries. Hmmmm, no respect already after only 4 games? Guess they wanted to make it interesting (that and the Bengals are 10-3) ATT YDS AVG LNG TD Rudy Johnson 30 169 5.6 32 1

I think the Sunday Stud selectees are only from the afternoon games. The voting starts before the night game is over.

yeah- I believe you are correct, now that I think about it. At halftime, Boomer was talking about Bledsoe getting 50+ percent of the vote

what a smart play by samkon in the end zone. i really enjoy seeing him get some accolades and that certainly shows well for the LU program. it is great to have some good news in what was a bad year for the program.

since GB will be going as far as Philly in the playoffs- maybe Coach Rocco can start working NOW on getting Sam to come back and show his face/help promote LU in his off season.

I just tried to listen to the press conference from Sunday. Is it just me or is it virtually un-understandable. All I caught on the whole thing is that Sam says he needs to work on pass protection and protecting the football. I wish there was a clearer, louder version I could watch.

Nevermind...I clicked on the wrong one (56k instead of 300k). It works fine.
That's definitely a Liberty jacket! WOOHOO Go flames!

Don't have a picture of the jacket Sam was wearing but I checked Liberty's on-line bookstore and didn't see anything like it there. I would like to know where he got it. If Liberty doesn't offer it, they should consider it.
