I had to get confirmation on things... so I e-mailed Paul Lukas, of ESPN's Page 2 to comment on our football jerseys. The conclusion? Thumbs down. The Big South logo - not Liberty's fault - is too large. There's too much clutter on the sleeves, and the helmet logo can't be defined outside of ten feet. Plus, the random stripes... ugh. Sorry. I know we've had this discussion before... I just had to get that off my chest. Bring back the traditional / old school look.

For the record, I've never minded our jerseys. In fact, I sort of like the red ones. I've never been crazy about the helmets. The Prototype-designed logo just doesn't stand out as displayed.
Speaking of Prototype, we haven't heard from those guys in forever. Scar?

I agree, I think the red ones look good. I liked what they had on Saturday with the red jerseys and navy pants. I just like them in general. I know it made the team ecstatic to have the red ones. I will agree that some of them look a little arena-ish, but from the uniform perspective I think we look pretty good on the field.

The white jerseys are not as complicated and the conf logo doesn't appear as obnoxious. I think of the 3, White is best, Red 2nd, Navy last- but def prefer white.

Mrs.PAmedic-to-be thinks the numbers on the White jerseys appear to be drawn on w/ crayon.
Nuts to her.

Does anyone have pictures of the red?

looked all over for the red too, w/ NO LUCK.
And why is it that there are NEVER any game pix posted anywhere? And I mean ANYWHERE. Google search, you name it- what, no one takes stills anymore?
You look at any other school's website, esp Coastal- there are tons of shots from each game up there pretty soon afterward.
somebody needs to get on this.

I actually like the new logo and look they've been sporting. They project a young school that can afford to stay modern with their look. LU isn't a storied program worth preserving 'the old'. Those uniforms will look great to all of us once they finally start winning!

The pictures displayed on this thread are all old. Now the LU on the sleeve has been replaced by the new logo. The new logo on the helmet is hard to see even close up. Not sure how to corect that though other than thicker lines on the decal. With the new logo on the sleeve I thought they shouldhav gotten rid of the flames or lightening bolts or whatever that is on the sleeves. I also enjoy the alternate Red Jerseys. Can't wait for you guys to see the Men's basketball red jerseys. Nice!

The jerseys could use minor alterations, but the only change that you can really do with the helmet is just take the eagle off. Most D1 teams do not even have their main logo on the helmet but there school abbrv. or letter instead (i.e. VT, Texas A&M, Purdue, Wake Forest ect.) We need to put the same LU that the Men's basketball uses on the side of their shorts. [/img]

LU should, IMO, go to something similar to Ole Miss.

I was thinking the same thing. I was watching Stracuse last night vs. UConn. LU could do jerseys and pants just like SU - except we'd have the blue helmets with the new logo.
Sweet!
we're wearing white pants tonight - when was the last time we wore those?

We wore white pants with the Red shirts the first night we broke out the red jerseys vs Youngstown.

The pictures displayed on this thread are all old. That was my point when I wrote this: there are very few NEW shots anywhere on the web. Pathetic.

Thanks, guesto.
Me likey. But the helmet still sucks and I doubt we see Zach in that pose much more this year (although the halfback pass remains one of the best options in any playbook if you have someone to fling it).

I think it's an improvement, and it's pretty much as good as it's going to get. Now, if what SCAR said is true and they wore the white pants with that, that would look pretty sweet.

Looking at the Redskins/Broncos game and the Broncos emblem is bold and white. If Liberty makes the new logo slightly larger and much more bold, I think it could work better.

Great shot of Zach, guesto. I like the red/navy combination the best I think--last night with the navy on top and white on bottom didn't look bad-but it's probably my 3rd choice.
1. Red top/Navy bottom 2. Red top/White bottom 3. Navy top/White bottom
and I didn't mind the originals either. I guess I'm easy to please.
I do think a larger logo would make visibility much better. I DON'T like the red logo actually ON the field. A VAST improvement from last year where the Big South was bigger--but the red doesn't show up well. I think it should either be navy or white(White like the emblem on the HELMETS) so you could see it better. I don't know, that's just me.

As far as the field, if they outlined the logo in white it would make it look a lot better.

Yea you're right about the outline.
I just meant thanks for providing the quality shot-it has the big flames network logo on it so I figured it was from there.

To be fair, I need to point out that after all my whining- new pix HAVE been posted on The LIGHT FMs website. I still think the school website, athletic website, and Champion pages are VERY lacking. I'd personally like to see more sideline-level close ups from each game, but- hey, that's just me. Maybe we can't afford film. Do they use digital cameras? (I digress)

Post by PAmedic on Oct 13, 2005 5:39:47 GMT -5
oh, one more thing to nitpick about: the quality seems poor- very "grainy" for some reason. Either low res or zoom lense maxed out? (I have no idea what I'm talking about, I use an Instamatic for cryin out loud)

Those pics are (most likely) taken by Jamie Hall, who you know as the sideline reporter for the football games on the radio. He's just doing the pictures on his own time with his own camera, thus explaining the grainy-ness.
Most of the pictures that you'll see on the Sports Information website are taken by Les Schoefer, the official photographer for Liberty. Whenever sports info needs a picture, they get it from him. Of course, there's a charge associated with that, so they won't update the pictures over the course of the year. They figure, hey, if we already have a decent photo of Zach Terrell, it doesn't matter if we have him in red or not.
Or so I think.

I was about to mention that it seems most of the pics on the official website either came from another source (other school or media outlet) or were extremely old. I find it hard to believe with our journalism program at LU, they can't find somebody to take some ground level shots at games. Its not that hard at all. Perhaps they could train the interns in the SID department to use a decent digital setup.
