it's good to see W&M renewed for a home and home, and western carolina has signed on for next year.
Schedule update
Liberty and William & Mary will play another home-and-home series, with the Tribe visiting Lynchburg in 2006 and LU returning to Williamsburg in 2007.
Western Carolina is another opponent on the 2006 schedule, though the schools are still deciding where the game will be played. Wake Forest and Towson are the other confirmed non-conference schools on the schedule, both on the road.

That's fantastic news. Inspite of our lackluster performance against them this year & last the two schools decided it was worth continuing. I've made my feelings on our series with them very well-known. The more we can schedule W&M, JMU and UR the better.

I agree Sly, I've always said that you need to start scheduling local games to start getting more interest in the games. There's plenty of quality I-AA teams in the area that Liberty should focus on scheduling every year -- Richmond, JMU, W&M, Hampton, etc.
(And hopefully, by getting rivalries with these teams, it'll help strengthen our case for switching conferences down the road).

There's a lot of football talent in the Hampton Roads area. Playing well against W&M and Norfolk St and if LU can get a game with Hampton and even Richmond, it could really help recruiting local players.

We've had all those schools on our schedule in recent years. And I'm sure we are always available to any of them along with JMU whenever possible. But with the CAA getting so ridiculously full, they don't have many non-conference dates.

I'm thinking someone should look into scheduling Lehigh, Villanova, and Temple. At least we could win the last game!

Nice job getting a money game with Wake. I'm jealous. Wake is one of G-W's s North Carolina Baptist sister schools, but they ain't showing the family any love. Of course who knows if G-W has pursued that on our end or not.

It must be our impressive track record generating respect.

lol Yes, most definitely.
Why did we only play Lehigh once? It was actually a decent game if I'm remembering correctly. We'd probably get a mudhole stomped in us this season, so it's probably better that we didn't have a second meeting-but why didn't we pull off game #2? No space in the schedule?

Lehigh is a well established team that garners their share of respect. I am sure they had, well- no better way to say it than: better offers.

There's a thread on AGS indicating they thought we had backed out. I'm guessing if an opportunity for another home-and-home with William & Mary came available, we may have backed out of Lehigh to attach ourselves to a school we are working toward developing a relationship with. But that's just my guess.

So for 06 its home: W&M, CSU, GWU Away: WF, Towson, CCU, VMI and we're still deciding with Western Carolina...more than likely it'll be away.

can't argue we don't play a strong schedule- yikes. anybody know where we DO rank for strength of sched? though I guess the BSOUTH conf games lower it a bit.

Lehigh has been pushed to 2008 ... the game still must be returned.

Strength of schedule
Of the 239 Division I schools (including I-A), we have the 146th toughest schedule. Assuming that all 117 or so I-A schools have more difficult schedules than us, our 146 puts us roughly in the top of schedule strength for I-AA.
Two corrolaries -- that doesn't include the game against the Division II school, and the easiest part of the schedule is at the end of the year.
