As I promised you "old hags" (your words, not mine-or more specifically, PAMed's words if you need someone to blame ) All I have to say is, I never realized my new dorm had such a clear view into my old room. For those who lived in E6 this past semester (if there are any of them on this board), my roommate and I both apologize for forgetting to close the blinds so much. If anyone has any questions about any of the pics, I'll be happy to answer them. photobucket.com/albums/y295/ATrainZ24/LU05/

Eeeep...sorry guys...my bad. Definitely can't have any of yall be me, I can barely handle it so an ordinary human definitely couldn't . Anyway, lets try this again, shall we? Here we have the lovely entrance to the tunnel on Main Campus [img src="[http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y295/ATrainZ24/LU05/IMG_0078.jpg"] Looking through the tunnel to the other side (the magical land of East Campus) Looking back through the tunnel to Main Campus Waterfront property. The dorms pictured are E1 and E2 The original 6 East Campus dorms...completed my freshman year, I moved over my second semester from 17 on the hill. I would've loved to have stayed in the one I moved into, but alas, they wouldn't let me. They made all 6 into female dorms. My sister dorm this past year, E-12 My new dorm for the upcoming year, E-6. I'm moving b/c I'm going to be the missions director for E6-4 (YAY!-Every semester I've been on East Campus I've been on the 4th floor...WOOHOO!! The view is awesome ) My old dorm (E-5) from my new dorm. I never realized just how good a view people had into my room...once again, I apologize to those living on E-6 for my roomie and I forgetting to close our blinds on several occassions. This would be the view from my new dorm. Pictured are E5 and E4, Vines and DeMoss in the distance (across 460, but you can't see the highway)...and then the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond. I'd post pics of the inside, but I'll wait until I move and have everything set up before I do that.

Now that we all know what the dorms on East Campus look like (at least from the outside), lets focus on the amenities East Campus has to offer besides the ones provided on the inside-namely private bathrooms, free laundry with each apartment having its own washer/dryer, full sized fridge and freezer, dishwasher, and stove as well as walk-in closets and storage space plus a fully furnished living room. These pictures will arrive in August, after I've had time to set my room up the way I like it. This is one of the many sets of mailboxes located on East Campus. No more trying to crowd into the post office for us. Each set has a drink machine. This was going to be a weight room just for us, but since the construction company went bankrupt, we have no idea when...if ever...it'll be completed. Our clubhouse Lounging area inside the clubhouse. The clubhouse has cable hookups and showin on the TV was Step by Step on ABC Family. Its a really cool place to gather to watch playoff games. The gameroom in the clubhouse...there are also 4 TVs that have XBox or PS2 or Gamecube that you can play video games on ;D Halo 2 is currently the most popular The clubhouse also has a computer lounge. And a MOVIE THEATER. Those are really nice, comfy seats to sit in. Ironically, they have drink holders but drinks are not allowed in there. And there's the screen The Pool...and yes, those are lounge chairs surrounding the pool for sunbathing. Guys, this is the only place on campus that we're allowed to be shirtless outside. Ladies, make sure your swimwear is one piece.

And lets see whats been added to Main Campus: The Hangar foodcourt in the middle of the courtyard. The back of the "4-Story" DeMoss Hall. While it may look like there are 4 stories, only 2 are in use and its been that way since it was built up. The white square is a wireless internet transponder. The Front of DeMoss Hall The front of DeMoss Hall at an angle The Grand Lobby...at the top of the big white stairs that you see in front of DeMoss. The floor of the Grand Lobby Part of the computer lab. The lab also boasts classrooms and a cafe' I'll take more pictures of it in August The Textbook section of the bookstore (where I currently work). The bookstore is still on the first floor of DeMoss, though greatly expanded than when most of yall were here (and getting ready to expand again...hopefully). Does anyone know when Barnes & Noble took over the LU Bookstore? The Tradebook section The Clothing Section...we have lots of different styles of clothing to choose from, more than whats listed on the website I can promise you that. Our home office in NJ is undergoin "changes" in that department-meaning that whoever was supposed to upload our updates (as well as the thousands of other updates done by other stores) got canned for not doing their job. The Painted Rock* as it appears in this photo *Subject to change without notice This is the lone golf banner hanging in the Vines Center. Our golf team (we only have a men's golf team) has never won a Big South championship, but did get an at-large berth in 2003. We have won 5 Sasser Cups...2nd in the league behind only Coastal Carolina with 7 (including this current year). However, LU has only been a Big South member for about half of the conference's life span, SOOO counting Sassers since LU entered the league we have won more Sasser Cups than any other school. We have also won more conference championships than any other school in the league since its inception. Men's Basketball championships...not too many of them, unfortunately VOLLEYBALL!!! I know several of the girls on the team, and they're really awesome. Actually, aside from the men's bball team most of the athletes I know (ranging from hockey team to volleyball to baseball to football, ok football's 50/50) are great...but the guys on the men's team tend to act like immature adolescents in class along with a few football players, but other football players are awesome. The Big South Conference going alphabetically from UNC Asheville all the way to Winthrop except VMI...VMI was put in Elon's old spot. Women's BBall...and the 2005 banners aren't up yet. We've won so many championships and have had so many NCAA appearances that we're beginning to run out of room for banners...a good problem to have in my opinion. This is what the back of the Vines Center looks like...the windows are the basketball offices. I would've taken a picture of the Vines Center floor except for the fact that Boys State was goin on at the time and it was covered...sorry folks, but you'll get one in August...don't worry. The Ravine where the Vines Center rests used to be a watershed lake. Behind the Vines Center there is a trail that leads to the dam that held the lake. This is the view of the dam from its top and the view from its bottom. Well, that concludes this current photographic tour of Liberty. I'll get more photos in the near future, including: The LaHaye Student Center, SubConnection, and the inside of my dorm. I leave yall with one final pic ME!!! I also work for the Lynchburg Hillcats in their concession stand...some of you who graduated "back in the day" might remember them as the Lynchburg Red Sox...well now they have a new name and a new stadium...I'll take pics of that as well if anyone is interested.

Dude, that was extremely enlightening for us old hags. I had no idea how nice the setup was on East Campus. It makes the Spartan dorms we called home back in the day look like a hostel. With digs like that, I wouldn't have been in such a rush to get off campus when I was a student.
I'm guessing the tunnel is a walk or bike access only. That was under construction the last time I was on campus a few years back.
And you don't need to explain anything about the ravine to us old hags. We know every inch of that place whether we want to forget it or not. Anybody else remember rainy days slipping and sliding on those railroad ties?
Since you work in the bookstore, perhap you could put a word into the powers that be there about possibly carrying the 2005 I-AA.org Football Preview Magazine. I guy down in Louisiana puts it out. Here's his contact info:
INFO@RETRO-SPORTS.COM
Thank you very much, ATrain for helping to keep those of miles away from campus a little better connected. If you could take a shot or two of where the new ice rink & football facility have the big holes in the ground, it would be appreciated so we can have a better concept of where it sits on campus.
Gracias

And for the record, some of us were able to go to Lynchburg Mets games back before the Red Sox affiliation occurred. The NY Mets used to come down an play the L-Mets in an exhibition once a year back in the day. That included the infamous '86 Mets who we now know were one of the most psychotic, drug-addicted groups of individuals ever assembled. They used to put up a temporary little fence in the outfield so they could stuff even more paying customers onto the warning track for that one day game.
I remember my LU classmate Brian Barnhart doing the play-by-play (it was a one-man operation on the broadcasts except for the board op back at the station ... which was often me). BRian later went on to become radio voice of the Anaheim Angeles for several years before settling into the main announcing gig for the University of Illinois.
But I digress and I hope I don't sidetrack you from posting more pics.

Wow...didn't know the NY Mets used to play them. Anyway, I just remember them as bein the Red Sox and now are the Hillcats, a Class-A affiliate of the Pirates. They currently play either LU or LC in an exhibition game at the start of the season. The past couple of years they've played LC b/c the last time they played LU the Flames won.
Anyway...I promise...more pics of campus coming soon.

Excellent job dude- I didn't even know there was an East Campus- back "then" across 460 was, well- a mountain. DeMoss: WOW. what happened to all the flags around the fountain? And when did they put trees back there? used to be concrete and, um...more flags. I think I'd be lost the second I walked on campus. Can you still sneak in the back across the RR trax? That used to be the spot to hang out late at night (on the tracks). Thanks again for the pix.

Nah..unless you can discreetly open the gate and get your car on and off campus without being spotted by LUPD

Cheer-I could break into one and take a picture, but I'll wait till August (don't worry, I'm on the leadership team...we move in on the 12th) when I have everything set up before taking pics on the inside.
As for sneaking in through the back, they have gates now...BUT there is a new road that goes by David's Place to North Campus that people can use, plus the guard shack is now unmanned due to its uselessness, and East Campus...well, we come and go as we please.
As for the flags, when they built the Hangar, it interupted the circle so they took em out, but there are still concrete squares with holes located around the courtyard in the grass.

Argh! took out the flags and put up a pole barn! what is going on down there? that was a big national/international thing back in the 80's. And when did we get a painted rock? Is that gazebo thing w/ the bell in it still around, or did they rip that out for a tool shed or something?
I am so freakin' old- gimme a noose.

Yeah the "Liberty Bell" is still around. I have no idea when the painted rock got there though. I may just paint something on it before I graduate though (which is in a couple years)

ATrain - how are the HillCats drawing this year? I was down to see the renovated stadium last year and I think they did a great job. I like the fact they build around the old ballpark. I used to go to 15 to 20 games a year when I was growing up down there. The Lynchburg Mets were the big draw back in the day. Gooden, Dykstra, Strawberry - the list goes on and on.
