Tonight at Marist. They look to be an ok team which is better than we stand at the moment. This'll be our last shot before conference play starts to get a D1 win. They've already played Birmingham-So pretty well. We CAN win this game but we most likely will not. I'm gonna go out on a limb though and say Blair: 23 points, Dees: 15, Turner:10
LU 67 Marist: 60

hear is the report i heard from Marist...
Tough game from wire to wire. Flames started slow but the were thrusted into a long comeback by the play of Senior Foward Leo Lightbourne, down 8 early, Lightbourne flushed a monsterous dunk from a Woodson pass to spark a run that left the Flames down by 2 at half 34-32. Second half was played much the same battling back and forth. Dees came up big hitting back to back three's that cut the lead to 2 but Marist pushed the lead back to six with three to go. LU took the lead by 2 going up 66-64 with a minute to go need only one stop. Missed free throws and offensive rebounds led to 3 points in a long Possesion for Marist as they took the lead 67-66. Flames last possesion....Dees missed the go ahead three but game MVP Lightbourne stole the ball off the rebound and tallied a lay-up and the foul to put the Flames up 69-67. Marist threw up a prayer that hit the back board giving the flames the win.
Big Win for LU....remember fans last year we were a solid 3-10 going in to conference...but at least we stayed out of ESPN's bottom 10 last season...

At this point, I'll take a victory anyway we can manage it. Finally.

I'm so happy!!
The game wasn't on the radio, though, so no comments.
But I'm happy with the win...LU really needed it.

Contrary to my post I just made in the Seaton Hall thread, I'm proud of this win. Marist is not as bad of a team as you might think and to beat them at home is a good accomplishment. I wish this had been the last game before league play, as it would have been a real confidence booster. To pull out a win in a close game like this one is something they can build on and will definatly help in Big South play.
