It's official Stephon got the job in West Palm Beach, Florida! It is a division II that is moving up to division 1A in a few years. Great opportunity. He is already out recruiting. He called me from the road yesterday to give me the good news. I remember playing there (sitting the bench there) my freshman year. We went there during Christmas but that was like 20 years ago. I can't wait to go down and visit. I am really happy for Steph but sad to see him leave Lynchburg. We have been friend for many years as he was my old teammate and roommate. Liberty is really losing a quality coach. I said it before losing Steph is bigger than even Dees transfering in my mind. They are planning on doing limited television coverage too so Sly, get your resume together and maybe you will have the chance to work with me. I hope you do Play-by Play! I would love to fly down there and do some games. I would think that John Clarke and Seth D-ickey would probably transfer there with Steph.

Jack I couldn't agree more. It seems like a great place to recruit, Steph has relationships with a bunch of high level players and they have a commitment financially to making their school a competitive division 1A school. I couldn't be happier for him. I can't wait to visit. I hear Trump has a resort there.

That is the exact move that Stephon and Me were apart of as student athletes at Liberty. In 87 Liberty moved from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division 1A. Now the distinction 1AA is only reserved for Football. Most Division 1AA schools in football compete at the 1A level in all their other sports. To move to Division 1A you need to meet several qualifications including be compliant with title IX laws by having an equal amount of women's sports. That is why wrestling was cut in the 80's at Liberty. A financial commitment is essential too though. It is a tremendous undertaking but I think West Palm Beach Atlantic has the financial support they need.

Scar! Bringing the HNIC to the board? Ouch!
As it turns out, my uncle is the head of the Art Department at Palm Beach Atlantic. Its a great school with some really big plans (not the be confused with the ridiculously over the top plans of Florida Atlantic). It has a beautiful campus. I'm definitely down with doing some play-by-play in South Florida.
I'll bet there will suddenly be a bunch of Houstonians heading down to WPB. I'm glad to hear that he is getting such a great opportunity.
And actually, I-A and I-AA are distinctions only for football. In every other sport it is simply Division I.

Scar! Bringing the HNIC to the board? Ouch! . And actually, I-A and I-AA are distinctions only for football. In every other sport it is simply Division I. Which is exactly what I said. If you are going to work with me on the air don't be repeating what I say . Sly you remember HNIC? "Lean on Me" 1987 I believe. Morgan Freeman as Joe Clark. In my abbreviation I cleaned up the letter N at least in my mind.
