SCAR, I'm disagreeing with ya. I thought that was a charge. You make a point, I just think it was a charge. LU can't get a shot to drop to save their lives. They're getting open looks, just nothing will fall.

Does Bynum have a relative playing major D1 ball? That name sounds really familiar. And that miss right there pretty much seals the game.

What happened? A 1 point game w/ around 2 minutes to go. Down by 7 w/ a minute to go it seemed like no one knew what was going on when we had the ball. No sense of urgency. Smith had a good game and Blair scored 17 after going 0-10. The 4 point play killed us.

Well, I knew some big south school was going to come into the Vines Center and shut down blair and beat us. Where Blair goes so does LU. Radford is halfway decent. Can't wait to read LUConn's comments on this game.

Keys to the loss (IMHO, of course):
1. LU's 18% FG percentage in the first half. 2. Second half turnovers. (How many travel calls were there? I lost count.) Three, apparently. Sometimes I imagine things. 3. Late fouls. (It was tied at 35 until we gave away 5 unanswered points via stupid fouls.) 4. The foul on the made 3-point basket with 2 minutes to play was the nail in the coffin.
And yes, The Vines Center was very sparsely populated last night. Also: Whoever was picking the tunes to be played for warm-ups and timeouts should have a playlist made for them in the future. I was nearly falling asleep during some of them, and I can't imagine it did anything to help with the energy on the court.

i do not think larry was really shut down, he just missed a lot of good looks. i do credit radford's D on him though. he had to work hard for every shot. in watching the last two games live im seeing a team that is maturing, and anthony smith and rell porter continue to blossom. i think the key is to get somethjing out of russell monroe. we need to have an inside presence and right now all we are doing is slashing. we have been tough on the boards. i talked ro coach D last night before the game and he thought the boys had a good week of practice and he was looking forward to the game last night. he really thought it was going to be the turning point game. well if drop better than 15% in the first half and play like we did the first 5 minutes of the second we win. i feel we are getting better, but still have much to work on.

Yeh, Larry wasnt shut down and honestly LU wasnt shut down, we just didnt hit...but this was a great game for LU to have to go through b/c it was a VERY fast tempo and VERY scrappy and will toughin up the boys and also get them better at a run and gun offense...heck if we shot 30% i dont think the game would have been close

Quick summary from my point of view since you guys seem to have captured the moment well, no need for me to go on and on. Liberty really took care of the basketball. Only 10 turnovers (3 in the second half). Radford also took care of it too with only 7 to's (1 in the second half). Both teams got good shots that didn't fall but both teams forced a ton of tough shots. Rell and Anthony continue to get better offensively and I think they along with Doug Stewart could be the answer at that end of the court. Bigby makes the most of his minutes and has shown he can score with his back to the basket which forced Radford into a zone that was tough for us to decipher. Larry struggled and took a few bad ones but for the most part I though he was getting good looks. Fellas, basketball is a strange sport sometimes. When you don't really have a post player that can score consistantly, you may struggle sometimes and thats what happened last night. Liberty's defense was good 38% for the game for Radford. The Big South is no easier than any other conference in America. Everyone is capable of coming into the Vines and winning. No different than the past but we have done a good job of sending people back from wence they came with an L. No need to panic, we let one get away at home, now we have to steal it back when we go to Radford. Thanks to all of you that tuned into the Webcast!

Scar, keep lobbying to do the womens games. Honestly I can't watch those broadcasts anymore because the play by play and analyst do not know what they are talking about. I know the one guy works with you on the mens games and he is decent at play by play, but not as an analyst on the womens games. In fairness to him, the play by play announcer gives him nothing to work with. I would like to see you as the analyst and Jamie Hall handle play by play. You played the game and bring some insight and Hall has covered the women for a long time and knows the team.

Supa J, did you like my hockey comment about the Brotha's? I actually was just kidding because I am a huge hockey fan but I figured I would have a little fun with Ray. As for the women's games I can only say that I would hopefully bring the same insight and humor to the telecasts that I try to bring to the men's games. I appreciate the love I get on this board!!!! Thanks for the positive feedback....As for Ray Jones, He has told me that he feels more comfortable doing PBP than color and I think he does a great job on the Men's games. I have not really watched much of the girls games on TV so I don't have much of an opinion on the quality. Maybe next season I can slide in there!

Sly, you may remember him from our Liberty days but his name is Brandon Pickett. He is a Liberty grad that went on to work as an anchor for WSET channel 13 here in Lynchburg for a while but has since moved on to live in Danville and now Richmond and I believe he is working with young people in some capacity. I understand what you mean as a general rule I don't like to rip announcers either except when they make millions like Vitale and the old guy Keith Jackson from the National Championship game. I thought he and Dan Fouts had a rough night. And feel free to give me some feedback in a PM. I value your opinion as a fellow broadcaster.

Who is the guy doing PBP on thw womens side? Just curious. (I'm not ripping anybody on any of our broadcasts as a general rule) Well... I'm not opposed to giving an opinion, with the understanding that these people may be on here... so no personal offense meant. If I get a name wrong then someone correct me, but I think I know everyone. On TV... Tim Scarboro seems to know what he is talking about and is a good analyst. The only advise I would give to him is that there are a lot of other team's fans watching and it sometimes seems a little of a "we" complex. From everything I have heard, the play by play guy Ray Jones is a good guy so I certainly don't mean anything personal when I say this, but he just doesn't seem comfortable on the air. He uses some terms that don't make a lot of sense or just don't flow with the game. I would also guess that he has a background in radio because he talks too much about things that are plain to see. Most TV pxp guys don't describe each pass and dribble. I saw him do a football game a while back and he did well at that but it is hard to listen to him on basketball. As far as the guy that has been doing play by play on Women's basketball... I will be nice and say that he is not the worst sportscaster ever... he is better than the "Boom goes the dynamite" kid. But that's about it. I remember watching him on the news when I was in school and he was good on WSET... but I don't have a clue why he is doing sports broadcasts. Was there an audition? The production of the games is great but it is really brought down by what is coming through the audio channel. It also doesn't make sense to have Ray do color for basketball... from what I understand he was a football coach. When Dennis Carter is on there he does a good job at pxp... but I haven't seen him this year. And I only saw Hall on once. I'm not sure why they got bumped for the Pinckett (sp?) guy. It seems to me I saw Scarboro and Hall do a game before... that would seem like a good combo. They are both solid... Hall can get a little too excited on the radio but I haven't ever heard that when he does TV. I guess though you are allowed to be a little emotional on the radio, you see it all the time when ESPN plays the radio call over highlights. A lot of "go baby" and "yes, we win!" As far as radio... I have always been a fan of Jerry Edwards... he seems real classy. Reminds me of the golden age of broadcasters like Jack Buck and Vin Scully. On the women's radio... no offense to the kid that does color, but i have always wondered why they don't have a girl that has played the game do the broadcasts. It would seem like a good fit for a former player like Scarboro does on the men's side for TV. Just my opinions... I am certainly no expert but I have watched and listened to a lot of basketball in my life and wanted to give my two cents.

On the women's radio... no offense to the[glow=red,2,300] kid [/glow] that does color, but i have always wondered why they don't have a girl that has played the game do the broadcasts. It would seem like a good fit for a former player like Scarboro does on the men's side for TV. That's funny... that should put GMTM in his place... joking aside though, that spot has been to help train our student sports director and they have always been males. Just has worked out that way, we have encouraged females to apply. We actually did have a former player do it one season but that was a while back. Genie Stennett did it back in 98.
