Feel free to throw out any rankings you may find in this thread. I find this interesting, even if if it is only November: www.kenpom.com/confrank.php?y=2006I gotta wonder how much Winthrop is carrying us.

www.kenpom.com/rpi.php?y=2006Winthrop at a very impressive 23, although you do have to question any ranking system that has Radord at 112, unless you include them in a group of 112 schools.

a week or so ago- WU's RPI was 3 and they were tied for #1 in the country!
of course, since then Portland has tanked and taken part of WU's RPI w/ them- but no doubt they are carrying the BSOUTH at this point.
early on we were tied for 125 th or something- then again we were 0-1 after just the UVa game. doubt its much better yet, but at least our other loss was against a top 10 team (#7 KU)

the collegesports insider poll that WEF refers to is followed closely by the Big South Conference. They list it in their Big South weekly report...BTW Arizona Reid at High Point is having a big year so far. If you think Gathings was nice, AZ is getting it done right now. He had 29 and 16 vs Kentucky Monday night! I think if you go to Flames Club you can get the Big South notes.

here's a nutty site if you're bored. teamrankings.com/somehow, the Phillies- who didn't make the MLB playoffs are ranked #9. and my Villanova Wildcats are ranked #1 over Duke/Texas. take it w/ a grain of salt.

I seem to remember Reid getting some looks from some big schools coming out of high school (hey, a name like that is easy to remember). He's clearly showing he has some serious game. High Point is looking tough this season.

That's a dumb site. You can't base your rankings on the teams record vs the top 25, 50 and 100 of those same rankings. That's the main flaw in RPI.

I love kenpom.com. Here's a summary of many different stats that some will find disturbing. It just shows that we have a lot of work to do this season. The following is our ranking out of 334. Hopefully I can present this so you can read it (I'm trying to do a table so I'll probably have to edit it a lot): edit: I CANT FIGURE OUT THESE FREAKING TABLES! so you'll just have to deal with this format Efficiencykenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/stats_explained/- 97th Tempo/Pace
- 320th Offensive Efficency
- 304th Defensive Efficiency
Offense SummaryEffective field goal percentage is like regular field goal percentage except that it gives 50% more credit for made three-pointers. Turnover percentage is a pace-independent measure of ball security. Offensive rebounding percentage is a measure of the possible rebounds that are gathered by the offense. Keep in mind that rebounding percentage is computed from box score data which does not contain team rebounds. Therefore, the figures shown here may differ slightly from calculations made on the rebounding totals provided by a school. Finally, free throw rate captures a team’s ability to score from the line. - 306th Effective Field Goal Pct
- 287th Turnover Pct
- 305th Offensive Rebounding Pct
- 309th FTM/FGA
Defense SummaryEffective field goal percentage is like regular field goal percentage except that it gives 50% more credit for made three-pointers. - 227th Effective Field Goal Pct
- 216th Turnover Pct
- 313th Offensive Rebounding Pct
- 296th FTA/FGA
Point DistributionThe points distribution page illustrates where a team’s (and their opponents’) offense in coming from. The numbers in each column indicate the percentage of points scored (or allowed) by each type of shot. Keep in mind that the numbers on this page do not say anything about the quality of a team’s offense or defense. The data provides another piece of the puzzle of how each team plays offense or defense. - 280th Offensive FT
- 31st Offensive 2Pt FG
- 241st Offensive 3Pt FG
- 39th Defensive FT
- 208th Defensive 2Pt FG
- 229st Defensive 3Pt FG

A couple of other things I noticed. We're scoring 81.4 points per 100 possesions and giving up 109.2 We turn the ball over 25.7% of the time yet force a turnover 21.1% of the time.

No matter how you slice the rankings, we are pretty RANK, right now. I suspect we will be in the top four in BSC by the time the end of the season plays out. One thing you can say about Coach D's teams, is that they have always learned to play HARD. That is something the young guys we are relying on need to learn.

Morehead! Morehead! We want Morehead!

yeah, I posted the game recap from ESPN over on the other thread. But we certainly wouldn't want THEM in the BSOUTH, why- they're crap. We wouldn't want THEM.

They might as well be. I've never heard of 2 teams playing eachother twice in one year that arent in the same conference.

Actually LUconn, Longwood is playing most of their schedule home and away games as they did last year. When Liberty went division 1 we had to do that. We played coastal, chas so etc 2 times a year because that is the only way to fill your schedule when you have to do all 28 games because you are not in a conference.
