I know our chances of winning this game are somewhere between slim & none. That said, I would rather get knocked around by mediocre Big East squads than any more Shenandoah victories. We will only improve by getting comfortable playing on the same floor with a higher level of competition.
My prediction:
LU - 52 SH - 80
Perhaps bouyed by the Marist victory, I have a feeling the guys will be more competitive inside Continental Airlines Arena (come on, it will always be the Meadowlands to me).

Flames - 45 Pirates - 82
Unfortunately, I was closer in my prediction than I would've prefered.
Finally, Big South is coming and just in the nick of time.

Hey Sly - kudos to the Meadowlands reference. Are you a Jersey boy?
Although it was really Brendan Byrne Arena before the naming deal with Continental...

Nope, I am definitely not a Jersey boy. But one of my best friends from my days at LU known as Rowdy Joe was the unofficial NJ ambassador to Liberty back in the Late 80s/Early 90s. Rowdy Joe drove a van around campus with a huge Devils logo on the back. Even though he was from South Jersey, he had state pride and any team that used New Jersey in its name was his team (even though he lived just outside Philly ... he hates the Flyers with a passion as a result).
Bottom line, Iam among the old schoolers who have a problem with stadiums & arenas being renamed for a few bucks. As a native of Cincinnati, I cringed everytime I had to show any Reds highlights a few years back at Cinergy Field. I grew up going to Riverfront Stadium during the Big Red Machine days. Its hard to believe it is nothing more than rubble under a parking lot these days.
But I digress ...

Man, this freaking sucks. I can handle getting blown out by the big dogs but Seaton Hall? Normally Seaton Hall is pretty good but they aren't this year. Add that to the fact that this was almost 40 points makes this unexcusable. There's no doubt in my mind that Winthrop or Birmingham could have won this game. Luckily conference play is here and we can get some wins that way. We'll win all but 2 at home and maybe 2 on the road if we're lucky. I'm so disgusted.

Well, a lot of people thought that we'd put up a fight against Seton Hall, but I really don't see where they'd get that idea.
I mean, Seton Hall's players are usually NBA talent - Andre Barrett, Samuel Dalembert, Adrian Griffin, Eddie Griffin... those guys are all in the NBA and played at Seton Hall.
So you got Liberty - who no one expected to torch the Big South this year - going up against a Seton Hall team with NBA caliber talent and holds their own in the Big East.
What did you expect?

37 points is ridiculous agasint THIS Seaton Hall team. Not the All time Seaton Hall All Star team. I'm aware of SHU's history, having followed the Big East my entire life, and I'm also aware of the squad they have this year. They're pretty good, but losing to NorthWestern doesn't really do anything for them. I would expect to lose by 20 to them. That's the quality of team we played. We scored 45 points! Our leading scorers had 7 points! And finally, 6 assists 25 turnovers.
That blow out from NC state is starting to look worse and worse now.

I have to fall into LUconn's corner on this one. Seton Hall is not up to its standards of of being a Big East mid-to-lowlander. Getting waxed by these point totals has gone beyond embarassing into humiliating.
Would someone please snap these guys out of their daze?

This really totally sucks bigtime. We should be able to compete with teams like Seton Hall and Miami of Ohio. At least we should be within 15 points. There is no excuse for this crap (all of these blowouts). I's so PO'ed right now it kills me just to think or write about it .

You can't let it get you down... These games are the ones we say to potential recruits, "come to our school and you'll be playing in large arenas, on TV, against good schools." You play good schools out of conference, lousy ones in conference, and then get your NCAA bid (which is good enough for us, for now).
Now if a 20 or 30 point loss occurs DURING conference, well, there'll be heck to pay.

Bottom line, Iam among the old schoolers who have a problem with stadiums & arenas being renamed for a few bucks. Tell me about it- loved going to the Vet and the Spectrum, now we have "Lincoln Financial Field" and Core States/FU/Wachovia Center. GREAT.
