Armon Jones, hopefully the first of many big things to come.

November 16, 2005 · Lynchburg, Va.
Liberty University head men’s basketball coach Randy Dunton has announced the signing of Armon Jones to a national letter of intent for the 2006-07 season, marking the Flames first signee of the early signing period.
“The signing of Armon Jones is a great day for Liberty Basketball,” said Dunton. “He has tremendous physical size and feel for the game. Armon has great hands which is so important in a developing a post player.”
“His best basketball is still in front of us. I am confident that he is capable of becoming a go-to guy in the post. Armon will be a credit to the university as a whole and his personality a hit with the student body. Coach Sherard and the staff did an outstanding job in Armon’s recruiting process.”
Jones is a 6-8, 250 lb. forward from Powder Springs, Ga., where he graduated from McEachern last year. During his senior year, Jones averaged 10.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest and was a second-team all-defensive selection for the Indians.
“It’s good to be part of the Liberty family,” commented Jones. “I really like the coaching staff. I believe in what they are doing on and off the court and I want to win for the glory of God.”
Jones currently ranks as the 69th best fifth-year senior in the country by Hoop Scoop Basketball rankings and is attending Charis Prep High School in Goldsboro, N.C., this season.
“I’m very happy that Armon has signed with Liberty University,” stated Carlos Peralta, head coach at Charis Prep High School. “Coach Dunton is getting an outstanding player, but more importantly, I feel Liberty University will be a place where Armon can continue to develop as a student-athlete.”
“Armon Jones is one of the six or seven top post players in the class of 2006,” remarked Bob Gibbons of Bob Gibbons All-Star Report. “He played in our fall event and should prove to be an immediate impact for Liberty University. This is another outstanding job by Coach Randy Dunton and his staff.”
