Does anyone know this? What the heck? I used to be the biggest Dunton supporter out there (largely because I sat through the Mel Hankinson era), but I can't say that our program is going in the right direction when our players are getting jettisoned left and right.
I mean, Rashad Robinson, Elijah Miller (I was waiting a year to see the insane numbers he was going to put up), David Dees, Jeremy Monceaux all in 12 months...
That means that of the top 9 scorers last year, only two are returning (although the others graduated). I hope Dunton has an ace of his sleeve, or Larry Blair will be playing the Chris Caldwell role: only player putting up numbers on a team that trudges through the Big South.

you don't wanna flip over this rock. we were beating this horse to death soundly on another thread when the almighty global moderator locked that baby down.
(you don't want to incur his wrath)
basically, someone's a little edgy about the board being turned into a Dunton bash-fest. Guess we'll have to wait until this fall to see what rabbit gets pulled outta who's hat.

I'm still in Coach Dunton's corner. I like the guy and really hope he can take us to the next level. I will admit though that I am concerned with the attrition.

eddantes, How dare your question the great "wizard of basketball" and his program. You most certainly will be banished from the boards. Alert! Alert! Lock this thread down immediately!

I keep expecting a Michael Brown resume type situation... It will come out that Dunton doesn't have any basketball experience and his only relation to sports was as the head of the Dog Racing Association of America.
(This was a joke... not an unfounded rumor... please don't lock down the thread)

As long as this doesn't develop into another thread of personal attacks, I'm cool.
As for the attrition, other than Dees I don't see anything to get too concerned about. Monceaux & Robinson weren't exactly carrying the team on their shoulders. And Elijah apparently didn't have his priorities in order. David obviously is a huge loss ... but it was his decision to go elsewhere.
We're just hoping all the new guys hit the ground running, so to speak.

Players are not being jettisoned, at least not by Dunton. One left because of his own violation; one left because he thought he could do better, even though he was an all-star, with the ball in his hands, and with plays designed for him to score; and others left because of playing time issues, etc. etc. If you would be honest or studious, you would know that some of this is just the way it is across the country. I keep trying to figure these guests out.
2nd, 1st, 2nd. Just lucky? Other coaces did all the coaching? 45 point slaughter for Big South Champs? Players just got hot at the right time? Big recruits on the way? They don't know how stupid Dunton is? Alexis & Zach on board ? They can't judge a coach or a program?
Nobody should be concerned about the program, - they should be happy with the direction of the program. Talk show hosts occasionally deride the class of people who call in. Is this the same thing? I believe it's either that, or people with a biased agenda.
Their questions boil down to this: "Is Dunton capable of doing what he has already been successful at, and continbues to be successful at." These are stupid questions, and stupid viewpoints, brought by people who have a problem somewhere. And please spare me the "informed infroming the uniformed." There's more bull here than in the entire state of Kansas.

Maybe Chris needs to write a few articles about the basketball program. That would be interesting.

as thorough as he's been for FB, I'm sure he'll take a good look at MBB AND WBB when the time comes.

Amen, PA! I'm heading for New Haven by way of JFK in a couple of hours. Even though my wife is 13 years younger than me (making her 46) she has Parkinson's Disease. She has been a part of a failed research study for a couple of years, and going there for final evaluations of the study. Looks like we might be flying over PA, so I'll tell the pilot to dip his wings a couple of times as a "Hello" to you.
I'll be back in my office on Thursday to continue my vitriol.

Okay, okay... remember, the lockdown happened during my sabbatical.
I've always been a firm believer that coaches are entitled to a grace period of at least four years after winning the big one, so there will be no personal attacks from my part.
(Now, when March 2008 rolls around...)

Thanks for the advice, PAmedic. And to eddantes, by 2008 we'll be searching in vain for those with legitimate complaints.
