Granted, the performance against St. Joe's was not the Flames best effort. But the Hawks did end the regular season #1 in the nation. But I digress ...
The good news is that Dunton appears to have program headed back the right direction. In mid-majors these days, success can be a very fleeting thing (with the obvious exception of Gonzaga) so the recent progress coukld shortcircuit in a hurry without continued success on the recruiting front.
Now more than ever, recruiting plays the primary role in winning & losing. No matter how terrific of a coach you have on gameday, if he doesn't have the stallions to run you'll be stumbling across the finishline.
That said, coming off a trip to the Dance is a perfect time to land some higher calibre prospects. The Class of 2005 is currently being chased. In hoops, 1 or 2 key signees can chnage everything (i.e. St. Joe's) and we just missed on a couple the past couple of seasons. Maybe now Dunton and his staff will have the ammunition to close the deal.
I'm looking forward to hearing Liberty's name mentioned in the coming months by kids down here in Houston with Coach Leary working his AAU ties.
Bottom line, the pride is back in Flames mens basketball ... and its about time.

If I remember correctly, Coach Leary is from Texas. Keep us posted if you hear anything down there.

Stephon is from Houston and used to coach his own AAU squad down here until taking the assistant gig at LU. He nearly helped us land Elijah Miller (currently at University of Houston) after arriving in Lynchburg. And he still has ties back here. Several kids have mentioned Liberty down here in the recruiting process the past couple of years.
